General Purpose and Scope of Position:

This position is responsible for ensuring the daily maintenance of all application and support equipment at the assigned (shop) location and including the management and development of shop/equipment staff. The position is responsible for the effective and efficient repair of machinery and components at high levels of quality in accordance with Wilbur Ellis standards and those of other monitoring agencies. The individual in this position will assist in the processing of repair and warranty work. The individual will also advise and recommend changes and improvements to the Branch or Operations Manager as needed to ensure the smooth operation of the facility.

Key Skills and Abilities Include:



  • High school diploma or achievement of high school diploma equivalent (GED), Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a retail, manufacturing, or distribution warehouse management role with experience in advanced skill level usage of forklift and equipment repair equipment
  • Must have excellent mechanical skills
  • Ability to assemble and perform maintenance functions on equipment
  • Previous supervisory or management experience preferred
  • Ability to read, write and speak the English language
  • Ability to differentiate parts and numbers

Specific Responsibilities and Key Deliverables Include:



  • Responsible for coaching, developing, and retaining key employees, including giving performance feedback, making hiring and discipline recommendations, and identifying training opportunities for employee development
  • Ensures the daily maintenance of all application and support equipment at the branch facility/shop. Equipment includes trucks, tractors, implements, and any other support equipment assigned to the specific branch
  • Performs extensive record-keeping as required by Wilbur Ellis and other monitoring agencies/departments both internal and external to Wilbur Ellis. Recordkeeping is required for the shop as well as the overall branch facility (yard, buildings, and other related infrastructure)
  • Checks daily inspection reports to ensure appropriate measures are taken to resolve any mechanical issues before equipment returns to service. All equipment must be maintained in optimum operating condition including the support vehicles for the application equipment
  • Reviews all repair work orders for accuracy and completeness concerning parts, materials, and labor and approve the release of equipment for return to service
  • Applies mechanical skills and understanding of fabrication techniques to ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently for maximum productivity by users
  • Assists in the appraisal of repair work needed on equipment and advises Branch Manager of all costs, materials needed, etc. that exceeds the normal scope of work expected on equipment
  • Assign jobs and work areas to shop personnel according to their skills and knowledge as required for maintaining efficient operation of all equipment
  • Direct and/or provide assistance in maintaining the overall branch facility, including yard, buildings, and other related infrastructure
  • Maintain technical and product knowledge for all equipment used within the shop foreman's area of responsibility
  • Proactively seek and participate in available company-sponsored training, in an effort to develop and advance skill set and knowledge base
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adhere to all policies and procedures as specified in company manuals and as directed in the employee handbook
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment at all times
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner
