Position Title: Senior Commercial Credit Underwriter

Business Unit: Credit

Reports to: Regional Underwriting Manager

Position Overview:

This position is primarily responsible for preparing written financial assessments of complex commercial credit transactions, including syndication's, multi-level capital structures, and/or investment real estate (as applicable), which will be used by senior bank personnel to extend credit to existing and prospective borrowers. Candidates must show proficiency preparing full underwriting presentations with little to no oversight. The incumbent provides the highest quality of service to every customer and looked upon as a senior resource for the region and mentor to less experienced analysts.

Primary Responsibilities:

Analyzes the creditworthiness of corporate and/or investment real estate borrowers and syndication's. Identifies key credit issues and prepares a complete written analysis in accordance with bank policies and procedures, including accurate and timely completion of FOCUS underwriting document and all components thereof with little to no oversight.

Acts as effective leader on complex transactions including syndication's, multi-level capital structures, and/or investment real estate while demonstrating excellent communication skills and uses those communication skills to voice opinion in a clear, concise manner to effectively solve problems/make recommendations regarding credit structure, risk, appropriate risk ratings and policy compliance.

Provide leadership in the regions served by being a positive contributor to the team including: back-up to the Regional Underwriting Manager, for both assigning and review of work and being a mentor to less experienced team members.

Occasionally work with internal customers on transaction prescreens for early identification of credit issues as well as providing structural, analytical, and indicative risk assessment along with participation in external bank meetings.

Independently research various industries utilizing available resources and summarizes information regarding current and projected status of certain industries, markets, and borrowers of Bank services along with general economic trends and conditions according to the availability of research data to aid senior leaders when making lending decisions.

Occasionally work on internal projects as assigned and provide meaningful input to enhance current process and procedures. The incumbent is expected to be active in training at least one time a year for the Commercial Underwriting Team.

Performs other related duties and projects as assigned.
