Job Description

GED math instructon and exam prep skills for adult students.

Qualifications:



  • Education: Bachelor's degree in job related area.
  • Experience: Experience teaching high school level math, algebra and geometry
  • Certificates & Licenses: Valid Virginia Department of Education teaching license preferred. Must be willing to work towards an Adult Education Certification or currently hold one. (preferred)
  • Experience: Job related experience is required; experience teaching English as a second language to adults.


Essential Functions:



  • Adapts classroom work to provide students with instructional materials that address individualized learning plans within established lesson plans.
  • Adapts curriculum for students to learn workplace readiness and computer literacy skills.
  • Administers tests and language assessments to evaluate students' language ability.
  • Assesses student progress towards objectives, expectations, and/or goals to provide feedback to students.
  • Counsels students to improve performance, health status, problem solving techniques and a variety of personal issues.
  • Demonstrates methods required to perform classroom and/or subject specific assignments to provide an effective program that addresses individual student requirements.
  • Instructs bilingual students to improve their success in academics and skills.
  • Prepares a variety of written materials (e.g. grades, attendance, anecdotal records, etc.) to document student progress and meet mandated requirements.
  • Reports incidents (e.g. fights, etc.) to maintain personal safety of students, provide a positive learning environment and adhere to Education Code and school policies.
  • Responds to emergency situations to resolve immediate safety concerns and/or direct to appropriate personnel for resolution.
  • Responds to inquiries from a variety of sources (e.g. other teachers, administrators, etc.) to resolve issues, provide information and/or direction.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned, to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.



Schedule: 2 evenings a week, 5:30-9:00 p.m.
