The Senior EEG Tech works in the Neurodiagnostic/EEG department to provide care to adult and pediatric patients with a variety of medical (medical surgical, critical care, emergent, perioperative) needs. Patient conditions include epilepsy, altered level of consciousness, CVA (cerebrovascular accident), TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack), confusion, nonepileptic spells, seizures, and more. The Sr. EEG Tech functions under minimal supervision to safely operate and maintain multiple pieces of sophisticated medical equipment and all the technical aspects necessary to operate them efficiently. The Senior EEG Tech identifies and implements the proper Neurodiagnostic procedure for a wide variety of patient populations, acts as resource to other members of the EEG team as assigned and promotes compliance and support for policies. Department Description The EEG Lab provides direct patient care to a diversified patient population, applies knowledge, experience, and judgment to determine the importance of a situation, set priorities, and use abstract thought to evaluate clinical situations. The EEG Lab participates in patient and staff education, demonstrates accountability for own practices as defined by ABRET. The EEG Lab monitors simultaneous EEG and video recording of seizures and various stimulation procedures in the EMU (Epilepsy Monitoring Unit), ICU (Intensive Care Unit), ED (Emergency Department), and makes the Sr. EEG Tech role more significantly demanding than in a routine EEG laboratory.
