Description
The Dell Medical School in partnership with Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas (DCMCCT), is seeking a Pediatric Congenital Heart Surgeon to be part of the Texas Center for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Disease. This physician will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver world class pediatric heart care and serve the growing need of the pediatric population in Central Texas. This position will assume co-responsibility for the treatment of complex congenital heart defects in newborns, children, adolescents and adults. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest for participation in clinical, research and educational activities. A successful candidate will have a joint appointment within both the Department of Surgery and Perioperative Care and the Department of Pediatrics at Dell Medical School and regular participation in educational activities with medical students and residents will be expected. Opportunities for collaboration with medical and adjunct specialties will be encouraged to allow for the pursuit of innovative program development and clinical research initiatives. Successful candidates will have completed an additional fellowship in Pediatric Cardiac Surgery, be Board Certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and be eligible for a valid and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of Texas. DCMC, a member of Ascension Texas and the Seton Healthcare Family, is a tertiary children's hospital with 248-beds serving 46-counties that includes a 24 bed pediatric cardiac care unit and a robust ECMO program. There are approximately 1,800 admissions to the ICU annually. It is the only freestanding pediatric facility in the region with a level 1 pediatric trauma center, level 4 epilepsy center and level 4 neonatal intensive care unit.
