About this Position:

The Sr. Procurement Specialist establishes and manages the processes of all MRO inventory commercial master data across Honda's North American facilities. This associate supervises a team of 6 contingent associates who carry out material data processing (price, maker, lead time, etc.). The Sr. Procurement Specialist is also responsible for managing category spend of approximately $50M through theme development, strategic management and stakeholder alignment is expected to bring spend within their category under procurement management. Through process improvement related to material data maintenance (including inventory and catalog), execution of strategic market analysis and sourcing events, and supplier management activities, s/he is responsible to achieve optimal cost reduction and mitigated material risk to key plant stakeholders.

Responsibilities include:



  • Provide leadership, direction and ensure daily management for NAIP Catalogs & the Material Master Data Management team - implement process optimization themes.
  • Establish and maintain processes related to new part commercial data setup, Part Discontinues/Substitutions, and Catalog administration, and effectively report key metrics related to the throughput of each process
  • Manage Supplier Performance / Development / Risk/ Support Segmentation
  • Theme development, strategic management and stakeholder alignment is expected to bring spend within their category under procurement management by effective sourcing and contract execution
  • Lead the team to establish and meet category SEQCDM performance targets and measures, monitor progress and implement countermeasures when necessary
  • Manage project implementation and oversee projects and business plan items, monitors progress and adjusts direction as needed
  • Effectively sell ideas, negotiate, collaborate, and build consensus across Honda North America sites (Mfg., Sales, R&D); Apply key customer (upstream, downstream, and end-user) viewpoint in all category activities. Establish, understand, and communicate Total Cost of Ownership to all parties; Build a network of productive relationships across AHM/HDMA to achieve category plans and targets.



Who we are seeking:

Required Work Experience:

* A minimum of 4-6 years of experience in either a purchasing and/or procurement related role or in a field where job knowledge & skills are applicable based on education

* Intermediate to advanced computer skills including working knowledge of microsoft suite to include word, excel, powerpoint, etc.

* Advanced knowledge with SAP, Ariba or major erp system(s)

* Fundamental data and financial analysis skills, and ability to synthesize information into various settings including negotiations, presentations, etc.

* Focus on process improvement philosophies (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.)

* Foundational project management and team leadership skills including ability to meet deadlines, manage change, and motivate others.

* Strong communication skills to various audiences

Required Education:



  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field or equivalent experience
