Job Responsibilities

  • Support and troubleshoot the multi-site, high availability EMS system, ensuring optimized monitoring and reporting for solid system reliability.
  • Engage with customers, guiding and leading them through solutions and delivering successful projects.
  • Diagnose complex problems, develop and implement solutions in an Energy Management System environment.
  • Support 7x24 real-time control system environments managing the electric power grid.
  • Provide expertise in information systems, operations, architecture, configuration, or other relevant areas for Energy Management System implementation.
  • Perform detailed system design, write functional and technical requirements/specs, develop test plans, and apply testing and quality monitoring procedures.
  • Provide guidance to business and functional units in developing tests, training plans, and materials.
  • Drive improved user productivity by developing and implementing new business processes and systems solutions.
  • Contribute to the overall IT strategy, participating in tactical projects and aligning processes with project needs.
  • Monitor other business or technical analysts, ensuring adherence to project software development methods and processes.
  • Facilitate interactive analysis and design sessions with representatives from business line and functional units.
  • Manage interface activities with middleware systems and processes connecting to core systems.
  • Create Centers of Excellence based on best practices and act as a champion in standards and methodology governance.
  • Stay updated with NERC compliance requirements and ensure adherence.
  • Familiarity with project and software development using ASAP or Agile methodologies.
  • Experience with protocols such as IP, DNP, UDP, TCP, ICMP.
  • Proficiency in Windows XP, Windows Server 2003/2008, MSProject, Microsoft Office applications, SQL, and email packages.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Detailed understanding and 2+ years hands-on experience in Energy Management System implementation.
  • Knowledge of Energy Management System data dictionary and common tables.
  • Experience with at least two full life cycle implementations of Energy Management Systems.
  • Solid understanding of Energy Management System architecture and platform functionality, database technologies.
  • Proven skills in enterprise systems development.
  • Experience in information systems, operations, architecture, configuration, or other relevant area.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2 or more years IT experience, including systems development experience in the design and development of department-wide or enterprise-wide applications.
  • Demonstrated experience in at least one (specialized technical requirements as shown in technical addendum) functional module with knowledge of other modules and can resolve moderately complex production issues.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated experience in defining scope and requirements of new developments to meet changing business requirements.
  • Knowledge of systems and/or business analysis design concepts. Demonstrated proficiency in the applied use of systems and process analysis tools.
  • Ability to facilitate interactive design and functional specification sessions.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving and conceptual skills.
  • Must be a "team player" able to work with management in developing and implementing new processes and enabling systems. Able to work with end user groups to define application needs and identify feasible solutions.
  • Proactive, self-motivated with the ability to motivate others and a customer-focused service attitude.
  • Good organizational skills, with the ability to meet objectives and effectively multi-task.
  • Ability to work with all levels of the organization, both technical and non-technical.

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with power system components and their SCADA/NETWORK database models.
  • Knowledge and experience with utility operation principles and best practices.
  • Self-motivated with a desire to stay updated on the latest EMS/EMS technologies related to power system operations and control.
  • Ability to coordinate and facilitate EMS changes with both IT and Operations teams.
  • Working knowledge and experience with Agile methodologies and processes.
  • Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills to support EMS/SCADA/NETWORK.

The pay range for this position is$80,200.00 -$141,900.00, and this position is eligible for annual goals based incentive bonuses.
