Optum Labs is the research and development arm of UnitedHealth Group. We're a diverse team of curious thinkers and experts in big data, artificial intelligence and machine learning, and scientific and clinical research searching for new ways to help people live healthier lives. We partner with world leaders in health care delivery, research, and technology to create disruptive solutions that serve patients, caregivers, providers, and commercial and government payers.

More equitable, effective, and affordable health care - that's our goal. We aren't just trying to improve the care an individual receives. We're building a future where the health care system works better for everyone.

At UHG, we operate on a simple premise: "Focus on the customer and all else will follow." User Experience Researchers (UXRs) make this possible. We care deeply about the people who use our products and the lives we impact. The UX team plays an integral part in gathering insights about the needs, attitudes, emotions, and behaviors of people who use our products to inspire and inform design.

As a User Experience Researcher (UXR), you help a cross-functional team of product managers and engineers understand user needs. You work with stakeholders across functions and levels and impact at all stages of product development. You play a critical role in creating useful, usable, and delightful products. You explore user behaviors and motivations by conducting primary research such as field studies, interviews, diary studies, participatory workshops, ethnography, surveys, usability testing, and logs analysis. Your primary focus will be to create elegant and customer-focused designs that provide superior customer experience working in close collaboration with product, engineering, and design teams across different business segments across UHG. You will get the opportunity to own comprehensive end-to-end experiences, work across different services and infrastructure.

The ideal candidate will thrive in a work environment that requires strong independent problem-solving skills, self-direction, and innovative thinking coupled with an aptitude and affinity for team collaboration and open communication. This individual is both highly analytical as well as highly creative, and consistently demonstrates superb design, writing and presentation skills. This individual foster collaboration both inside and outside the team, evangelizes and promotes UX within the company, and can juggle several high-level projects while delivering A-level work on all of them. This individual is confidently able to justify design decisions based on a thorough understanding of contemporary user-centered design methodologies.

We deliver enterprise-grade solutions that leverage UHG's domain knowledge and cutting-edge technology.
