Summary: The Liu (Yin) Lab at HHMI Janelia is interested in understanding the neural mechanisms that underlie the communications between the respiratory system and the nervous system. The lab uses mice as the model organism and combines single-cell analysis, genetic tools, activity imaging and recording, and whole-animal physiology approaches. We work collaboratively with experts in molecular tool development, microscopy, and computational biology at Janelia. As a member in the 4D Cellular Physiology research area, we expect to work closely with other groups in the area to develop innovative strategies and tackle the general principles of how body-brain communication maintains organisms.
