Our program provides high-quality supplemental academic and support services for migratory children/youth ages 3-21 who reside throughout Massachusetts. Our Ready for Kindergarten Program sends bilingual, experienced educators to model age-appropriate kindergarten preparedness activities to migratory children ages 3-5 and their caregiver(s), typically in their home or at a local library. Department: Massachusetts Migrant Education Program Title: Instructor FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports to: Migrant Programming and Partnership Manager/State Program Director Purpose: Instructors support individual and group learning in academic and summer terms. Instruction varies by audience and location to best fit the migratory population being served. Content of the academic supports range based on the student need and curricular options. Minimum Qualifications:
Instructional Setting: English Language/Life Skills Program- Instructors will provide classes to small groups of students and in some cases individual students. Instruction is almost exclusively remote via Google Meet in evenings and weekends. Site + Home-Based Tutoring- Instructors will provide instructional support and homework assistance to individual and small groups of students. Visits will range from 45-90 minutes per visit with 1-2 visits per week. Visits can take place at the student's home or in school, library or another public space nearby. When appropriate and applicable, tutoring may also occur remotely via Google Meet or other appropriate on-line platforms. Ready For Kindergarten Program- Instructors will implement kindergarten readiness curriculum to individual students aged 3-5 and their parent/caregiver. Visits will range from 45-60 minutes per visit, with 3-4 visits made to the child over the course of the year. Visits can take place at the student's home, library or another public space nearby. Site-based Summer Program- The instructors will engage elementary grade students in STEAM based projects while also giving them the opportunity to practice their English skills and communication skills. Pre-kindergarten instructors will establish a set daily schedule including a morning meeting, rotating centers and developmentally appropriate activities. Summer home-based program- Instructors will make a series of one to three home visits to individual and small groups of students. They will facilitate fun and creative activities that also provide students with the opportunity to practice their English skills. Visits will range from one to two hours and can take place at the student's home or in a park, library or another public space nearby. Physical Demands:
