Research Assistant II - Peptide Biology Laboratory, Dr. Marc Montminy

Description

Individual with 3+ years of experience in the laboratory. The candidate should have familiarity with mouse handling, genotyping, and colony maintenance as well as procedures for metabolic analysis and tissue retrieval. The candidate should be able to carry out standard molecular biology studies (qPCR analysis, cDNA cloning, transient transfection assays) and protein analysis (Western blotting, Immunoprecipitation). Individual will also assist with lab supply purchasing and tissue culture.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS



  • Assisting staff scientist and post-doc (50%)
  • Lab management (25%)
  • Small animal maintenance (genotyping, metabolic studies) (25%)


EXPERIENCE

Required:



  • 2+ years of experience in the laboratory


EDUCATION

Required:



  • BS/BA or equivalent

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Required:



  • Lab managerial experience, standard molecular biology (cloning, Q-PCR, transient transfection assays), and mouse handling (metabolic analysis and genotyping)

The expected pay range for this position is $21.15 - $25.00 per hour.

The incumbent in this position will be constantly reading, and working indoors while frequently reasoning, analyzing, touching/feeling, talking, and standing.
