The Division of Hematology, Oncology & Transplantation (HOT) is seeking a classical hematologist at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank. The ideal candidate will have translational research experience and clinical expertise in classical hematology, as well as independently obtained research funding. The Division is seeking an individual with a strong interest in hematology research, mentoring and training who can thrive in the team-based environment of the University of Minnesota Medical School.

This individual will participate in the inpatient and outpatient clinical care of classical hematology patients as well as teaching of medical students, graduate students, advanced care providers and post-graduate trainees.

The Classical Hematology Program at University of Minnesota is a major referral center with expertise in the care of patients with numerous types of non-malignant hematologic diseases, including hemophilia, bleeding and thrombotic disorders, platelet disorders, anemia, iron disorders, complement disorders (PNH and aHUS), congenital red cell disorders, sickle cell disease and hemoglobinopathies, thalassemia, porphyria, immunodeficiency, leukocyte disorders, histiocytic diseases, and other rare conditions. Our Classical Hematologists provide care to patients with non-malignant hematological disorders in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. In addition, they participate in teaching, research, and clinical trials. Our facilities include a modern 400-bed teaching hospital, outpatient Clinics and Surgical Center and the Center for Bleeding and Clotting Disorders, and extensive basic research facilities and clinical research office. For more than 40 years we have provided excellent care for bleeding and thrombotic disorders at The Center for Bleeding and Clotting Disorders. Our center is the largest in the state and one of the oldest in the country. With a dedicated team for regulatory support and research coordination, recent investments have been made to continue our robust clinical trial infrastructure including experience in hemophilia gene therapies. As part of the federally funded Hemophilia Treatment Center nationwide network, we are able to offer comprehensive care that meets each patient's needs.

Significant opportunities for faculty development and mentoring for research, education of students, residents, fellows and advanced practice providers, and clinical trial leadership are provided by senior faculty and a critical mass of diverse non-malignant hematologists.

Qualifications

* M.D. or D.O. and Board Eligible or Certified in Hematology
* Demonstrated excellence in patient care
* Demonstrated enthusiasm for medical education, mentoring and strong teaching skills
* Demonstrated excellence in Academic and Clinical Leadership
* Must have or be able to attain a medical license in the state of MN
* Must be able to pass credentialing at all applicable sites
* History of successful national research funding
