PURPOSE

Directs the activities of warehouse personnel, including receiving, stocking, load building, customer service and deliveries.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES




  • Supervises assigned employees including staff selection and training; planning, assigning and directing work; conducting performance reviews; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Oversees the safe and efficient handling of goods by employees operating forklifts or other machinery ensuring that employees receive the proper training and certification, if necessary.
  • Oversees and coordinates periodic inventory checks; prepares merchandise orders to ensure that identified stock levels meet merchandising requirements at all times; maintains record keeping system to provide immediate access to current stock information when needed.
  • On occasion, will perform the same duties as other yard personnel.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and five or more years of experience performing and coordinating yard or warehousing activities, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

COMPETENCIES




  • Advanced knowledge of warehouse operations and handling of all machinery and equipment; maintains certification to operate such if required.
  • Ability to plan and coordinate work processes to maintain and increase manpower and equipment efficiency
  • Communication skills sufficient to speak before teams and work groups to explain work rules, product standards and productivity goals
  • Ability to read and write work schedules and reports
  • Knowledge of basic math, counting and estimating
  • Customer service orientation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Work is performed primarily in an outdoor yard environment, subject to variations in temperature and weather, equipment noise and dust.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds frequently and on occasion up to 80 pounds.
  • May be required to perform specific tasks that involve climbing, lifting, pushing or kneeling.
