Purpose

To develop journey-level skills through training on skilled work within the specific trade assignment. Responsible for learning skills in the operation, maintenance and repair of the trade assignment, and to perform such work to the limit of their experience.

Responsibilities
  • Learns journey level skills by installing, maintaining, operating, building, or repairing the equipment and materials relevant to the trade assignment.
  • Uses tools and equipment to perform the duties of the trade assignment as outlined in the journey level job description to the limit of their experience.
  • Performs periodic duties listed in the journey level job description to the limit of their experience. Drive University vehicles. Maintain acceptable driver rating as established in Policy: UTS157 Section 2.5.4.
  • Performs job related duties as assigned. Work is performed in accordance with normal trade practices and is inspected for conformity to safety, standards, quality and quantity by journey-level employees or lead employee.
Required Qualifications

High school graduation or GED. At least four years of skilled construction and maintenance of equipment or apparatus of the type related to the position.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Currently enrolled in or completed associate degree level technical courses in one of the following areas: Power Technology, Electronics Technology, Renewable Energy, Robotics/Instrumentation, or related field.

Driving Required

This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three-year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident.

Salary Range

$48,000

  • May be required to lift up to 50lbs. Often required to twist, grasp, push, pull and bend.
  • Operate job related equipment. May be required to operate forklifts, personnel lifts and cranes.
  • May be required to perform elevated work. Occasional work from ladders and/or scaffolds.
  • Participate in on-call program.

  • Rotating 12 Hour Shift - 06:00 AM - 06:00 PM & 06:00 PM - 06:00
