BCT offers a competitive total compensation package that, for this position, includes base salary with a starting annual range between $90,000 and $100,000 (negotiable, based on qualifications), along with a generous benefits package. The back-end Developer will work with the development team and Senior Data Analyst to troubleshoot and improve current back-end applications and processes for the EQUIP and other BCT Big Data Platforms. The Back-end Developer will use his or her understanding of programming languages and tools to analyze current codes and industry developments, formulate more efficient processes, solve problems, and create a more seamless experience for users. They will also prepare program-level, user-level and technical documentation. This position will work collaboratively with other engineers/developers, data architects, business analysts, programmers, testers and security, often on multiple concurrent projects. Key Responsibilities: Develop and apply back-end website architecture. Compile and analyze data, processes, and codes to troubleshoot problems and identify areas for improvement. Collaborating with the front-end developers and other team members to establish objectives and design more functional, cohesive codes to enhance the user experience. Developing ideas for new programs, products, or features by monitoring industry developments and trends. Design user interactions for web pages based on project specifications. Create servers and databases for functionality. Ensuring cross-platform optimization for mobile phones and for responsiveness of applications as designed. Play a key role in the entire lifecycle of analysis, design, coding, testing, implementation, and support. Design and develop APIs. Transform business need based feature requests into functional software features. Stay updated on developments in web applications and learn new coding languages Perform other reasonable tasks as assigned by management in support of BCT's goals and objectives. Skills, Knowledge, and Experience: Professional Experience: 5+ years as a Back-end developer in roles that required working with business stakeholders and soliciting requirements; data base development and applications support in a Cloud environment; technical specifications development for implementation documents; working with source control; scripting and working with development consoles. 5+ years' experience with information system design and application programming for large-scale systems Proficiency with fundamental front-end languages, including JavaScript, CSS3 and HTML5 and third-party libraries such as ReactJS, Angular, jQuery and LESS Proficiency with server-side languages including Python, NodeJS, Unix and PHP Familiarity with DBMS technology, including MySQL, MongoDB and AWS RDS. Basic design ability, including knowledge of UI/UX and basic prototype design Experience working with Nginx or Apache servers with a solid background in Linux Additional Qualifications: Bachelor's degree desired, preferably in the Information Technology field, from an accredited university or college Respectful demeanor and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in virtual and in-person environments; must be organized, and able to effectively prioritize and meet deadlines Able to effectively communicate when speaking and in writing, exercise sound judgment, ask questions and be open to the input and decisions of others Self-motivated and able to both independently and collaboratively solve problems and make decisions; be innovative Preferred Technologies: Backend: Python, PHP, NodeJS & Unix/OS commands Database: MySQL, MongoDB and AWS Frameworks: Laravel, Django, Flask and Fast API Job descriptions serve to provide guidance and information regarding position responsibilities and job expectations.
