MINIMUM SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical field and 10 or more years' work-related experience or a Master's degree and seven (7) years' work-related experience.in a relevant technical discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Active Secret Clearance
- Experience providing functional and technical guidance to engineering staff and customers
- Ability to apply subject matter expertise across key tasks and high impact assignments
- Experience planning, leading and executing major technology assignments, as well as evaluating performance results and recommending major changes affecting short-term project growth and success
- Ability to work and collaborate effectively with others including leading small teams as well as experience working independently
- Possess a high level of proficiency of systems operation, administration, and information technology concepts
- Excellent communication, team building, craft, and vocational skills to include writing skills for manuals, technical reports, and procedures
DESIRED SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience working in a cyber range environment as an operator, administrator, or cyber scientist
- Experience configuring and installing various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN)
- Experience building and deploying software (from internal and external parties), troubleshooting vendor software with minimal external communications
- Experience with VMware virtualization tools, to include vSphere, and their interoperability with networks. Experience with various virtualization solutions to assist with potential downselect tasks.
- Strong experience with operating systems and programming languages. Experience with multiple architectures (e.g., x86, ARM). Experience with compiling kernels and increasing system compatibility between third-party tools.
- Experience performing system maintenance and upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations (e.g., STIGs). Experience proactively analyzing systems for needs using industry-standard tools (e.g., Nessus, ePolicy Orchestrator)
- Experience with numerous DoD-standard endpoint toolsets for OCO and DDCO efforts (e.g., ePolicy Orchestrator, Nessus, Security Onion, Kali Linux, VyOS, Cisco Cloud Router, Splunk, pfSense)
- Experience with logical isolation of virtual enclaves to support isolated test environments
- Experience with configuring/administering NetApp storage networks
- Military experience or experience as a DoD contractor a plus
- CCNA or similar networking certificate
- VMware Certified Professional desired
- Microsoft Certified Solutions or similar Windows systems certificate

FILLING THIS POSITION IS CONTINGENT UPON FUNDING PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supports medium to large system deployments, including planning, designing, and evaluating software options, selecting operating systems and protocol suites, configuring media, and deriving requirements. Leads a team of engineers in overcoming technical problems from the ground floor. Leads technical efforts against the most difficult information technology challenges (e.g., recompiling a kernel to enable legacy system emulation in a virtual environment).
- Perform independent analysis, evaluation, and integration solutions to complex technical problems to meet management objectives
- Seek optimum design within customer specifications, quality standards, schedule, & funding limitations
- Work with site users to deploy and integrate their solutions. Offer assistance to participants during initial integration stages or when integration fails. Assist in documenting changes.
- Perform analysis on projects or phases of projects to enhance the technical and economic development of the product
- Resolve a variety of technical problems leading to advanced engineering studies designed to increase efficiency or reduce costs
- Interact with senior management and customer personnel on technical matters, technical research studies, and applications. Develop and deliver technical presentations.
- Monitor system performance and system resource utilization, ensure system availability and reliability, and chart trending and capacity planning
- Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
- Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with leadership and program management
- Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution in fielded environments
- Work inside classified and unclassified environments to accomplish government goals
