As the Senior Manager, Software Development, you will oversee all aspects of various levels of engineers and department manager(s) in support of our exciting Software Product Roadmap. You'll lead the global software development of in-house and off-shore development teams through optimal allocation of department resources and relentlessly improving software development processes and procedures in support of the Company's product development roadmap. You'll ensure that software meets the quality, cost and delivery requirements to enhance profitability and have full responsibility for the employment life cycle of direct and indirect Associates - i.e. hiring, performance management, pay review, etc.

This role can be remote from the US or hybrid from our Niles, IL Corporate Headquarters.



Responsibilities

    Actively manages software engineering schedules, budget and resource allocation.
  • Manages performance along with professional development and growth plans for the team.
  • Select and oversee contract organizations needed to augment staff and projects.
  • Manages joint development with 3rd party vendors as well as outsourced development.
  • Manage planning, execution, stabilization, and delivery of software releases
  • Work with development on commitment, set program milestones, create, and manage delivery schedule.
  • Daily monitoring of incoming bugs and water marks and acting immediately; triage and assign if needed
  • Scrum master: manage sprints, priorities, and deliveries daily
  • Review and oversee content delivery.
  • Manage build promotions.
  • Collaborates focus on process improvements such as CI and CT for a product release.
  • Monitor test activities and drive resolution (CT, Smoke, Regression FFT stability test KPI test etc.).
  • Interface with platform, SV, product marketing, System engineering, UX and HW teams to ensure SW related dependencies are met and issues are resolved Daily.
  • Provide status updates at status daily meetings
  • Generate metrics and manage by data.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, preferably software engineering.
  • M.S. or Ph. D. in Computer Science is highly desirable.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in developing software for application software systems.
  • Minimum 7 years of global software management responsibility.
  • Applicable product development experience in software development with an emphasis on agile software development methods is required; experience with SAFe is highly desirable
  • Previous experience working with other senior managers establishing strategic plans and objectives; communicates plans and vision to functional team members.
  • Past interaction with executives and/or major customers involving negotiation or attempting to influence senior level leaders regarding matters of significance to the organization.
  • Able to make final decisions on administrative or operational matters and ensure objectives are achieved.
  • Strong analytical and debugging skills with customer-facing solutions.
  • Effective cross functional communication skills, including the ability to influence outcomes and convey functional mission and plans.
  • Past experience of having overall control of planning, staffing, budgeting, managing expense priorities, and recommending, as well as, implementing change.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
