SUMMARY Under the direct supervision of the Director of Development, the Major Gifts Officer is a member of the agency's administrative team and, as such, receives direction on occasion from the Chief Development Officer, Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors. This position is responsible for identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of high-capacity individual relationships to support agency services. Essential Duties & Responsibilities 1. Oversees Major Gifts Campaign in concert with Director of Development and Chief Development Officer 2.Supports cultivation and solicitation strategies for a portfolio of approximately 150 donors giving $5,000+ annually, with a focus on upgrading to higher levels of giving 3. Implements strategies to attract major donor prospects and ongoing donor cultivation, solicitation and stewardship activities 4.Schedules, tracks and conducts individual donor cultivation, solicitations and stewardship activities personally and with agency leadership and Board members 5.Conducts research on prospective donors and produces donor profiles for staff and Board solicitors for individual donations 6. Creates personalized donor correspondence, including: proposals, acknowledgements for gifts from major donors, thank you cards, reports and pledge agreements as needed 7. Provides regular feedback and reporting on individual donor gifts to supervisor, Board and staff 8. Maintains donor recognition program and activities in concert with other Development staff 9. Conducts agency-wide tours with prospective supporters and volunteers, involving additional Development staff, CDO, CEO, and/or Board members as appropriate 10. Represents and networks for The People Concern at external community and donor events 11. Works with Development colleagues to bring in major donors via The People Concern point of entry events, special events, donor receptions, stewardship events and other fundraising events as needed 12. Perform data entry to track own actions as well as those of Board members and C-suite staff as necessary 13. Build queries and generate reports as needed in relation to duties cited above Qualifications 1. A passion for connecting philanthropists with high impact opportunities to help the most vulnerable in their communities 2. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in individual fundraising, and some knowledge of major gifts development strategies 3. Detail oriented with strong time management and organizational skills 4. Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and communications skills 5. Demonstrated skills in cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gift donors and donor databases 6. Computer literate, including knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook 7. Valid CA Driver's license, reliable car, auto insurance, and an acceptable driving record 8. Comfortable with a flexible schedule to accommodate some night and weekend work 9. Able to travel between Westside and Downtown Los Angeles offices as work requires Preferred Qualifications 1. Two years' experience in individual fundraising, with knowledge of major gifts development strategies 2. Experience with Raiser's Edge 3.
