Director Strategic Analytics (REMOTE)

SUMMARY:

We are looking for a Director of Strategic Analytics who will work with the Claims Intelligence team, part of GEICO's Claims Home Office organization, combines data analytics, strategic thinking, in-depth research, and data science skillsets to solve complex business challenges for the claim's organization and the broader company. Our team is looking for a Director to lead projects focused on building intelligence products that inform our strategic direction and transformation. Activities include developing project vision and approach, structuring analyses and building narratives from data, managing stakeholders, leading project delivery, and preparing clear, concise, and compelling executive-level research products. This role will have significant exposure to senior leadership across the organization and will be responsible for helping GEICO achieve its strategic priorities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Research and Analytics

  • Apply strategic thinking and hypothesis-based consulting to frame complex questions into analytical problems and provide meaningful insights

  • Support leadership with ad-hoc specialized analyses

  • Drive large, complex analytical projects, providing a forward-looking perspective and helping leadership make key decisions

  • Proactively identifies deep insights, finding opportunities to optimize claims processes. This includes breaking down complex business problems into a set of key hypotheses and choosing the right analytical tools to solve them

  • Develop executive-level presentations to communicate research findings in a professional, clear, and concise manner

Storytelling through data

  • Translate conceptual questions into data-driven analyses to allow leaders to make informed decisions

  • Structure and guide modeling efforts that underpin strategic recommendations

  • Transform data into useful information tailored to leadership needs through storyboarding and data visualization

Leading others

  • Hires, evaluates, and supervises team. Provides guidance and training as necessary to develop team.

  • Sets performance standards, reviews performance, and makes informed compensation decisions in accordance with all applicable Human Resources policies and procedures.

  • Manage the work and deliverables of team members

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to lead others to deliver quality work under tight timelines and shifting priorities

  • Analytical mindset and a desire to take on tough and challenging projects. The scope and variety of work will change frequently depending on the current project portfolio

  • Solid understanding of analytics and a strong business acumen

  • Proficient with data manipulation (data structuring, wrangling) and analysis

  • Strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills; comfortable with ambiguity

  • Ability to filter through ambiguity but able to also execute on the details, while working well under pressure and acting in the utmost confidentiality with sensitive information

  • Superior project management, time management, and client relationship management skills

  • Superior written and verbal communication skills; strong presentation skills with ability to "tell the story"

  • Extremely strong interpersonal and team building skills; able to foster a cohesive and effective work environment

  • An ability to work effectively across functions and levels; comfort collaborating with teammates in both and in-person and virtual environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, accounting, finance, mathematics, computer science, economics, or a technical discipline; advanced degree preferred

  • 10+ years of relevant work experience in analytical roles

High level of intellectual curiosity and comfort with ambiguity

Annual Salary

$150,000.00 - $250,000.00

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate's work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
