Summary Posted: Jan 28, 2023 Weekly Hours: 40 Role Number: 200459928 The AirPods Hardware group is searching for an exceptional candidate to manage a system team tasked with delivering amazing products; products only Apple could imagine and more importantly deliver. Our team is first and foremost a product team; we play a role in product definition and roadmap, we drive key technologies by partnering with diverse teams of experts, and we implement, validate and manufacture the hardware that gives life to beautifully crafted products. Key Qualifications Must have excellent EE fundamentals. This means you have a deep understanding of why our discipline works the way it does; you've developed an intuition and can apply it to new topics because you understand the basics. Must have hands-on experience in prototype bring-up and debugging, functional verification. You have an ability to go learn how to quantify and test new technologies. Experience designing high volume products from beginning to end and dealing with contract manufacturers. Experience leading teams of engineers and managers designing electronics. Description Build the Team - Manage a growing team of engineers as well as provide assistance to engineers that report in to different managers in our larger org. - Mentor and develop managers for this team, and build a highly functional and collaborative team culture. - Help establish best practices for working remotely with teams in other Apple locations. - Help drive the development and planning of our new facilities. - Help drive recruiting in as well as in other sites, leveraging regional talent pools as well as developing relationships with local universities for new graduate hiring. Our hiring process is a cornerstone method by which we build a diverse team, and as such this candidate will need to ensure a high degree of diversity at the input of that process. Build Great Products (Execution) - This team will be responsible for delivering AirPods products, from architecture through execution, including manufacturing support and early field failure analysis. - Train the team on Apple's current product development process and culture of urgency and excellence. Build for the Future (Innovation) - Contribute to the overall strategy for the AirPods product line roadmap, technologies, and execution, along with other leaders in the hardware org. - Seek out new technologies. Work with partners around the company to develop new features to enhance our products and keep the momentum going. A high level of ownership is required and encouraged. - Help team make informed decisions on what new technologies to invest in and cultivate for future product deployments. - Work alongside the existing AirPods architecture and technology teams to push the boundaries on key technologies. Education & Experience Additional Requirements Pay & Benefits At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $179,000 and $309,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.
