Government of the District of Columbia Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO) HIM Coding Manager $100,631.00 - $129,669.00 The Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO) whose mission is to enhance the fiscal and financial stability, accountability and integrity of the Government of the District of Columbia is in search of a HIM Coding Manager. This position is located in the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO), Not for Profit Hospital Corporation (NFPHC), United Medical Center (UMC). The HIM Coding Manager ensures the efficient and proper collection and distribution of demographic and financial patient information between departments. The incumbent also ensures the timely and accurate coding of patient encounters for production of bills and collection of receivables in order to accurately capture and report revenue dollars. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Minimum Qualifications: Five (5) years of progressive experience performing the related duties and responsibilities including advanced knowledge of medical terminology, interpreting health records, hospital coding experience utilizing ICD-10 and CPT classification, and at least 2 years of management experience. Coding certification is required such as RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CPC, or CCA. Specialized Experience Experience that provides the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for this position.
