Key Qualifications
  • The ideal individual has an in-depth knowledge of polymer and composite materials, including sample preparation, familiarity with test equipment and data analysis methods. Hands on experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience with leading materials engineering projects for polymeric/composite structural parts.
  • Experience with various industry specifications for testing polymer and composite materials, preferably materials used in printed circuit boards or flexible printed circuit boards
  • Experience in material characterization, material selection and root-cause analysis of mechanical, thermal, and electro-mechanical performance of materials.
  • Attention to detail and a strong passion for quality
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with multi-functional teams about various topics such as product requirements, technology specifications, project schedules
  • A proven dedication to continuous self-improvement.

Description
This position is within the newly formed Advanced Technology Group - Materials Engineering team, and the individual will directly support product design FEA methods team, product reliability and manufacturing teams, and lead the materials testing of polymer and composite materials in printed circuit boards and flex printed circuits across all Apple Products. They will identify and develop material performance requirements and establish accelerated test methods. They will take ownership of building the PCB/FPC materials function in this location and be the local site lead for materials. They will build up the laboratory capabilities and oversee equipment setup, test execution, interpretation, and review of the test reports. Job responsibilities will also include coordinating with Electronic Materials and Product Design teams to develop test procedures, understand material to part correlation and establish evaluation criteria. The successful candidate must possess the ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously with competing priorities.
Education & Experience
Most of our Engineers have Advanced Degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Polymers Science, or an equivalent field, but if you've followed a different path to expertise in Polymers and Composite materials, we still want to hear from you.

  • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $144,500 and $250,000, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
