The Stationary Engineer I will operate, regulate, and monitor all Utility Plant equipment in an efficient and safe manner. Operational responsibilities include but are not limited to all current and future ENGIE operated utility plants/systems on campus. Stationary Engineers check and regulate the operation/performance of plant machinery and equipment which may include gas/oil fired boilers, turbines, chillers, electric motors, fans, pumps, air compressors, piping systems, diesel generators and any other equipment related to campus utility systems.

This position is located at the Ohio State University in Columbus, OH and will report to the Operations Manager.

What you'll do:



  • Assistin training new engineers; performs Utility Plant security and safety checks; assists in the overhaul of plant equipment
  • Test Power Plant equipment; maintainand cleanplant machinery, equipment and building during operations
  • Regulatethe operation/performance of current and future Power Plant machinery & equipment including but not limited to gas/oil fired boilers, turbines, chilled water plants, emergency diesel generators, electric motors, fans, pumps, air compressors, and piping systems. Monitor/adjustall equipment for safe & efficient operations
  • Takeroutine plant readings and performequipment rounds; maintain logs and enterinformation into the log computer
  • Testcity water, water treatment plant water, boiler water, cooling tower water, chilled water and heating hot water to make sure all quality parameters are met
  • Adjustchiller plant operation to comply with service quality standards
  • Performequipment start-up and shut-down procedures as required
  • Receiveinformation relevant to previous shift and passes on relevant information to oncoming shift
  • Carryout other duties as assigned

What you bring:



  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • A minimum three (3) or more years of experience as an operating Stationary Engineer in an industrial or institutional power plant preferred
  • State of Ohio Stationary Steam Engineer's License
  • Good mechanical comprehension



Additional Information/Conditions:



  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts in the McCracken Power Plant (6AM-6PM or 6PM-6AM)
  • Must possess a valid U.S. state issued driver's license and clear driving record
  • Ability to meet highest attendance requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to use company computer
  • Could involve some lifting

  • Salary Range: $36.75 USD, hourly
