This role is a hands-on manager role within the IT team responsible for technical architecture, design and development within the SAP ECC/S4 application eco-system. Areas of responsibility include managing SAP Development, Basis, EDI and Security. This role will also support digital transformation in our growing SAP ecosystem including S4, ECC, MII, IBP, and SAP integrations between ECC/S4 and other SAP systems and bolt-ons.

This role includes aspects of solution architecture, design, project management and people management. It includes managing the work efforts of individual contributors with responsibility for hiring, firing, performance appraisals, and pay reviews. Also responsible for resource allocation, delivery and quality of solutions for the areas of responsibility.

In your role as Technical Manager, SAP Business Applications, you will work directly with SAP functional analysts, business users and other IT team members to assess needs, understand requirements and recommend solutions in a cross-functional manner to fulfill the business needs. You will manage team members to deliver quality, innovative solutions in a timely, cost effective manner against all three streams of work-Projects, enhancements and support. You will provide the necessary technical oversight, design and development solution review to deliver against the IT and business roadmap. Additionally, you will ollaborate and support the Integration team to enable smooth integration between ERP-SAP with new business applications and emerging technologies. You will collaborate closely and act as the key liaison with the outsourced Basis provider and drive the overall SAP authorization design and assignment, working hand-in-hand with the SAP Security lead.

This role is hybrid, based in our Niles, IL location.



Responsibilities

    Actively participates and collaborates with the IT functional managers, project managers and Basis outsourced provider to build out the 30-60-90 Basis plan and annual roadmap of Basis activities.
  • Drives the execution of the plan as the key Basis point of contact on the Shure side and provides early escalations as needed to IT Leadership and other parts of the IT organization. Manages the outsourced Basis provider with support from IT leadership (Infrastructure & SAP) to ensure the landscapes are proactively monitored, performance tuned, upgraded and maintained.
  • Provides technical leadership and is responsible for reviewing and further evolving SAP development standards, framework, guidelines, and approach.
  • Provides oversight and is responsible for design, development, performance validation and testing methodologies to ensure technical solutions meet quality requirements.
  • Builds proactive responsive relationships with other IT team members and business users to understand upcoming business needs and provides visibility into development, security capacity planning and utilization. Also partners with the functional SAP teams to enable projects, enhancements, and bug fixes.
  • Designs, develops, and implements quality solutions across the application landscape that are maintainable, leveraging reuse as appropriate. Acts as a primary advocate for the appropriate use of development, customization, and related best practices.
  • Further evolves the SAP development team skills and capability to effectively enhance and support the new S/4 landscape.
  • Drives timely decision making by bringing visibility in a timely manner to issues/problems with solution proposals, demonstrating agility and leadership and collaborating to effectively resolve issues.
  • Brings a product mindset and contributes to driving innovation in a matrixed, cross-functional environment
  • Contributes to efforts evaluating in-sourcing vs. outsourcing various SAP technologies.
  • Actively participates in developing the SAP Landscape strategy through client copies and system refreshes, monitor the execution and maintenance.
  • Collaborates with the IT functional managers for project/enhancement work that requires SAP security and/or SAP development support. Manage resource allocation across project needs.
  • Drives SAP security authorization design and ensures best practices are followed with end user management, and authorization assignment. Conducts periodic audits on sensitive transactions and process adherence and reports out with the any mitigation/corrective actions.
  • Collaborates with the Infrastructure Operations team to support hardware sizing, selection, refresh and disaster recovery testing activities.
  • Fully understands and leverages the Shure S4 Hana program guiding principles as well as Shure IT program and project management processes and tools to ensure quality and timeliness of deliverables.
  • Develops procedures to monitor, manage and report the team's activities and performance to maximize satisfaction.
  • Introduces process improvement ideas wherever appropriate.
  • Act as a trusted member to IT leadership and business teams.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years SAP experience, including management of Basis operations, SAP development and integrations, EDI, and SAP security.
  • Strong and effective interpersonal and relationship-building skills at all levels.
  • Ability to lead with exceptional communication, analytical, and strategic thinking skills.
  • Experience working with global teams, managing direct reports in other time zones and managing an outsourced provider.
  • Ability to prioritize time and tasks with little direction in order to complete work on schedule. Organized and efficient with ability to bring order to complex and competing demands.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Maintains technically relevant skills and demonstrates the ability to apply technical skills in solving business/technical problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide the necessary focus and effort to accomplish tasks and ensure they are done on time and to push through challenges and obstacles to achieve results.
  • Ability to understand, adapt and implement new approaches effectively and efficiently that resolve current and future challenges while providing unique solutions for the business.

  • Previous experience working with other senior managers and contributing to the establishment of strategic plans and objectives.

  • Able to participate in corporate development of methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and people.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current business trends.
  • Demonstrated experience in determining the best use of resources to meet goals of assignments received in the form of objectives.
  • Able to lead cooperative efforts among members of project teams.
  • Able to follow processes and operational policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
  • Able to develop and administer schedules and establish performance requirements.
