PLACEMENT: Support staff, grade 9
MINIMUM PAY RATE: $55,288.07 Annually

POSITION SUMMARY
To provide a wide variety of highly responsible and complex managerial duties requiring the exercise of a high level of discretion; to provide professional, effective and efficient customer service assistance to students, faculty, and college personnel, and support to the Automotive Service faculty. Maintains automotive service shop and classroom equipment. Assists instructors in the shop, on an as-needed, when-available basis. Supervises student workers assigned to her/his area. Considerable judgment, initiative, and independent action in establishing or adapting work procedures to new situations are required. Work requires knowledge of the policies and procedures within the Department and College Systems.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Supervise automotive students in an instructional setting. Supervise and allocate work orders for lab assignments in the automotive department.
2.Operations and maintenance of the automotive service department, to include Assistance in the instruction of Automotive Service students; schedule of service work for laboratory assignments; purchasing parts, tools, and equipment at the direction of the instructional staff; hire, train and supervise part time employees; overseeing the maintenance and cleanliness of the automotive facility and equipment; ensuring that safety and housekeeping rules are enforced.
3.Communicate with customers, vendors, students, and staff regarding vehicle service scheduling and repairs. Complete required documents for parts and service operations.
4.Oversee procurement, inventory, and processing of parts to service vehicles.
5.Maintain an inventory of tools, equipment, and tools for Automotive Service Department.
6.Maintain purchase & repair orders in computerized ledgers; maintain department records.
7.Update and maintain service literature and information delivery systems.
8.Supervise the maintenance and repair scheduling for designated campus vehicles consistent with the educational requirements of the Program.
9.Maintain and enforce environmental policies that relate to the automotive facilities and oversee the storage and disposal of laboratory generated "special waste".
10.Participate and support department and college goals and objectives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
I. Associate degree in Automotive Service Technology or suitable combination of education and work experience.
2. ASE Master Automotive Technician Certification; ASE Automotive Technician Certification shall be considered in combination with suitable professional experience
3. Three (3) years of experience as an automotive technician or a related field.
4. Must possess strong interpersonal, management, and supervisory skills.
5. Ability to operate and maintain an automotive service department, keep records, and communicate effectively with students, staff, and vendors.
6. Knowledge of precision measuring instruments, hand and power tools, specialized automotive service equipment and current office equipment.
7. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.
8. Demonstrated commitment to the college's core values of respect and inclusion, sustainability, integrity, collaboration, humor and well-being, innovation and quality.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1.English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency.
2.Demonstrated multicultural competence.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1.Automotive Technology environment and physical demands.
2.Ability to travel between campus locations and to and from community events.

EQUIPMENT AND/OR MACHINES USED:
1.Standard Automotive Technology equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
1.Duties are performed indoors in the usual Automotive Technology environment and/or outdoor environment.
