Personnel Security Specialist - TS Clearance

As a Personnel Security Specialists you will support our federal government customer. The successful candidates will provide support in the following areas including, but not limited to:

Work Schedule: MUST work 40 hours per week between core business hours; must produce minimum metrics associated with productivity.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate suitability applications and completed background investigations to elicit pertinent information and material facts to make a preliminary adjudicative decision, subject to Personnel Security Specialist's (Adjudicator) review on whether to hire, approve or deny access.
  • Ability to evaluate derogatory information which refers to any information provided either by applicant, employee, contractor or by any other means that could be disqualifying.
  • Perform suitability prescreening and review numerous required documents with minimal errors.
  • Perform end to end adjudication as required excluding inherently governmental functions.
  • Review completed background investigations as required; compare and cross-check information.
  • Effectively communicate with customers and stakeholders as required, both verbally and in writing as appropriate.
  • Maintain personnel security records, verify data, and perform security checks utilizing specified government systems
  • Analyze investigation reports conducted by other security entities to support government agency determinations; screening, evaluation, and adjudication of background investigations, performing other duties as required to assist with resolving security concerns; and
  • Prepare written analysis and propose recommendations to resolve complex issues; identify high priority cases/issues for review as required.
  • Other duties as assigned; associated with and/or in support of your primary role or program mission

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience personnel security experience including initiating, processing, reviewing, and monitoring cases prior to assignment for background investigation (BI) processing to ensure that they are complete.
  • Experience reviewing personal documents, Personnel Security Questionnaires (SF-86), and other records to ensure they are accurate, complete, and in compliance with the client's guidelines.
  • Must have excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent computer skills including basic functions (i.e. cut & paste).
  • Experience with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Must be able to obtain security clearance for access to classified information or meet the customer's minimum clearance requirements.
  • Knowledge of federal HR laws, rules, regulations, principles, and practices related to personnel security actions.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, develop facts, set priorities and deadlines, and resolve complex problems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and foster cooperative relationships to achieve common goals.
  • Have successfully completed formal training in suitability adjudications towards adjudicator certification in compliance with National Training Standards established by OPM.
  • Demonstrated experience and familiarity making a suitability/fitness recommendation based on the criteria found and methodology prescribed in the OPM Suitability Processing Handbook.
