Overview

The Cloud Solutions Architect is assigned to the Cloud Team at the Center for Internet Security. Reporting to the Cloud Team Manager, the Cloud Solutions Architect will act as a technical stakeholder for the health and progress of the CIS Hardened Images product lines. This role requires a strong system hardening background with an emphasis on Cloud development and a DevOps mindset. Success in this position requires skills in system hardening, cloud computing services, and strategy.

What You'll Do

    Perform cloud development activities, including:
    • Development of new, innovative system hardened cloud products in alignment with CIS Benchmark security standards
    • Regular maintenance and issue resolutions
    • Continual improvement of automation and cloud development best practices
  • Support as needed the building and maintaining of the existing CSP Hardened Image product line on a monthly basis, through:
    • Modification of virtual machine operating systems, applications, and containerization solutions to be hardened in accordance with CIS Benchmarks
    • Modification and updating of scripts and GPOs to align with CIS Benchmark versions
    • Modification of automation platform components (Ansible, etc.)
    • QA prior to publication in multiple Cloud Service Providers (CSP)
    • Troubleshooting and analysis of computer systems
  • Set the example for team members with a mindset of continuous improvement in the profession and in product development
  • Act as a product expert and communicate product information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Stay current on technology trends and work with various stakeholders and teams to understand our user's needs and determine how to deliver the most value to customers
  • Administration / Configuration of Linux and Windows virtual machines
  • Scripting using tools such as PowerShell, Bash, etc.
  • Uphold relationships with multiple Cloud Service Providers (CSP)
  • Mentor the Product Support Specialists on support issues of Cloud products
  • Provide support to sales, member success, and other CIS teams on existing cloud products as needed
  • Assist with consensus cloud community communications as needed
  • Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned


What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline*
  • 2+ years of professional cloud development experience
  • 4+ years of professional Systems Administration
  • 1+ years of experience with deployment and management of Linux and Windows servers, Containers, Kubernetes, etc.
  • 1+ years of experience with system hardening and security standard implementation (CIS Benchmarks, NIST, DISA STIG, etc.)
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Shared Responsibility Model along with security features and tools that the CSPs provide and how they relate to traditional services
  • Working knowledge of AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and Oracle Cloud Platform with preference to AWS and Azure
  • Working knowledge of Bash, Python, and PowerShell development
  • Experience with Chef, Puppet, Ansible, and/or Jenkins
  • Demonstrable drive towards continual professional growth and improvement
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

It's A Plus If You Have:

  • 4+ years of cloud development experience
  • Experience, in designing and implementing cloud solutions
  • Strong knowledge of the different service models offered in the cloud (IaaS, SaaS, PaaS, and FaaS)
  • Proficiency using Atlassian products Jira and Confluence
  • Fundamental understanding of agile principles and corresponding methodologies
  • Proficiency in agile development method SCRUM
  • Industry-recognized operations and/or security certifications are a plus (CISSP, GIAC, ITIL Foundations, etc.)

*Additional years of relevant experience or a combination of an Associate's degree or equivalent and relevant experience may be substituted for the Bachelor's degree.
