Position Summary:
The
Visual Perception Laboratory is recruiting a part time Research Assistant to
join the lab. The lab uses an experimental-computational framework,
involving computational modeling, behavioral psychophysics, and
eye-tracking to determine how the human visual system integrates sensory information
to make perceptual judgments while accounting for uncertainty and statistical
variability.
Essential Functions:
The Research Assistant will assist the PI in research
activities such as programming and performing psychophysical experiments, operating
eye-tracking equipment, testing models, carrying out data analysis, and
contributing to journal publications, conference submissions, and grant
applications. Other lab responsibilities include managing participant pools,
participant recruitment and scheduling, training and supervising undergraduate
research assistants, managing IRB protocols or other lab-related administrative
duties.
Prerequisite Qualifications:
- BA/BS in
a scientific discipline -
- Previous
research experience in vision science, psychology, computer science,
neuroscience, or related fields.
- Ability
to work independently, strong work ethic, strong organizational skills,
exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- At the
university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be
exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the
university, an equivalent combination of education and experience
specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
