JOB SUMMARY:

The Machine Operator B is responsible for Setting up and operating a minimum of one of the following types of machinery: CNC plasma/punch equipment, CNC laser equipment, machining centers, and/or brake presses. The Machine Operator must be able to use the required machinery to cut, shape, or form metal work pieces.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review setup sheets and specifications to determine setup procedure, machining sequence, and dimensions of finished work pieces.
  • Ability to retrieve preprogrammed machine instructions from the database and write basic programs using a machine control console.
  • Ability to edit preprogrammed machine instructions as needed.
  • Observe machine operation to detect malfunctions and change tooling when worn, damaged, or specified in setup instructions.
  • Measure work pieces for conformance to specifications.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills.
  • Regular attendance required.
  • All other duties and responsibilities that are assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICIATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education.
  • Three months or more related experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Demonstrated experience using various measuring devises, including but not limited to tape measures, height gauges, and calipers.
  • Ability to set up and operate at least one machine in the fabrication area.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Sense of sound is required.
  • Sense of balance is required.
  • Limb and finger dexterity is required.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to perform twisting, turning, bending, climbing, pushing, and pulling motions.
  • Ability to lift at least 50lbs.
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)-steel-toe shoes, safety glasses, vest.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Working conditions will be inside and outside where temperatures will vary from extreme heat to extreme cold for extended periods of time. This position is regularly exposed to vibration and loud noises.
