About this Position:

The Department Lead of AHM IT Compute and Infrastructure Services is responsible for developing strategies and plans that align NA Technology architecture, system operations, Compute and Infrastructure Services, and support resources to meet Honda's North American design, manufacturing, supply chain, sales, marketing, Captive Finance, Aerospace, and other related business objectives.

The Dept. Leader will mentor and coach their direct reports and serve as the escalation point for issues that need to be solved. The Dept Leader will also ensure that projects are completed, and operational objectives and goals are met. The Dept Leader will work on cross-company initiatives to maximize value for Regional and Global Solutions. The Dept. Leader will work with AHM IT Division & Dept. Leaders in Development and Manufacturing Systems, AHM Systems, and Captive Finance IT Systems to identify opportunities for business innovation and technology improvements. The Dept. Leader will ensure that the right people are in the right roles and areas of responsibility are organized appropriately. Dept. Leader will serve as a role model for AHM IT teamwork and deliver technology Services to support business operations and initiatives which contribute to top line growth and the bottom-line improvement.

Responsibilities include:

* Leading a global team of approximately 400 resources working across North America, India, South America, and Europe, develop and oversee the end-to-end strategy, design and implementation of the infrastructure strategy, service delivery standards and procedures for all of Honda's NA enterprise business functions, including AHM CASE/Connected business functions, AHM Sales, AHM Service, AHM Parts and 10 Regional Parts Warehouses, HDMA Auto Development, HDMA Manufacturing Functions at all NA Factories, HACI Design and Manufacturing, and AHFC Centralized functions and 3 Regional Customer Super Centers.

* Establishes a business plan for the CIS department with specific emphasis on Technology direction and Platform Services to ensure alignment of long-term (3-5 years) and short term (1-3 years) themes to meet the requirements of all North American (AHM, HDMA, AHFC, HACI) business.

* Acts as the lead Infrastructure and Operations Technology advisor to the EITS Division Lead.

* Works as the Partner with the IT business aligned leaders for HDMA MMC, HDMA ADC and SCM, AHM Sales/Service/Parts, AHM CASE and Connected Services, AHFC, and HACI to assess critical Technology and Infrastructure services, future needs, and Service Delivery. Is viewed by AHM IT Division Leaders as their main IT source for all IT Infrastructure Technology and Operations solutions and services.

* Responsible for the relationship between technology functions and end users. Set the overall vision for how stakeholder objectives are met and determine organizational roles and alignment. Lead relationship management with the most senior stakeholders, and act as the ultimate escalation point for issue resolution.

* With an emphasis on NA System and Infrastructure related matters, provide active leadership for:

o Developing strategies for IT alignment of operations and delivery services

o Understanding business direction and application trends; determine applicability to Honda, plan for timely and stable introduction, standardization, and obsolescence (6-year roadmaps)

o Establishing business expertise sufficient to propose effective IT solutions.

o Is as a trusted, credible navigator/business technology partner with Top IT Leadership (Division Lead & VP)

o Maintains an intimate knowledge of business plans and direction for the business

o Influences strategy by identifying opportunities for applied technology

o Influences IT strategy identifying emerging technologies which will improve Honda systems and consumer services.

o Acts as a trusted, credible representative of all IT Technology and Infrastructure services to HDMA, AHM, AHFC, HACI Leaders.

o Maintains a broad knowledge of current and emerging technologies and identifies business opportunities afforded by technology to influence

o Ensures the EITS Division strategy is created to meet the objectives of AHM, HDMA, AHFC, HACI.

o Identifies best practices across NA companies and applies to benefit all NA Genpos.

* The Dept. Lead for CIS is responsible to provide capable, reliable shared support services for 1249 NA Tier 1-2-3 Applications and systems; These systems are required for Honda to Design, Manufacture, Sell, Finance, Service, and Provide Warranty support for all Auto, Powersports, Power Equipment, and Aircraft products in North America.

* Oversees and ensures QCD for EITS projects supporting AHM, HDMA, AHFC and HACI Key Business Themes

* Assess key IT Technology and Infrastructure Operations to develop strategic technology roadmaps and improvement plans for all major NA platforms including Mainframe, Midrange AS/400, Open Systems/Servers, Private and Public Cloud (AWS, MS Azure), High Performance Computing, Virtual Desktop Workstations (VDI). Storage, Backup, and Disaster Recovery.

* Provide active leadership and oversight to the functions responsible for:

o Ensuring business plan themes are implemented for regional business by managing projects from concept to implementation and rotating P-D-C-A for continuous improvement

o Providing stable system services and operations

* Build and maintain high performing Department Leadership team (unit managers and high performing staff) through staff and personal development.

o Establishes a business plan for the department with specific emphasis on Critical Technology needs of AHM, HDMA, AHFC, and HACI.

o Coordinate strategic business initiatives and guide to completion

o Creates environment where staff can feel motivated, engaged, and inspired to achieve goals, objectives, and continual service improvement actions.

o Initiate frequent, interactive discussions with Unit Managers and department associates to ensure two-way sharing of thoughts and ideas

o Ensure that associates feel seen, heard, and valued as key contributors to Honda's success

o Champion and monitor workforce planning and the development of talent at all levels

o Continually develop self-awareness and personal leadership capability

o Distinguish performance and develop high potential leaders for succession through regular mentoring, performance feedback, and development planning

* Achieve the performance goals of the division on critical control items such as budget, manpower, compliance, and risk items.

o Clearly, consistently, and proactively convey global vision and corporate direction / rationale to Unit Managers and associates in order to ensure appropriate communication throughout the department

o Establish performance targets and measures to ensure department level results

o Structure and allocate department resources for accomplishment of required targets

o Anticipate problems and take proactive measures to position division for successful strategy execution

o Make sound decisions with little or no direction

o Champion and sponsor innovation to create improvements in operational characteristics

o Cultivate--and operate from--a Honda customer viewpoint in all planning and decision-making

* New Technology - Monitor and research both emerging and established IT trends and technologies.

o Leverage technology conferences, paid consulting services and internal research to identify promising ideas and concepts for in-depth analysis by the unit.

o Encourage associates to complete their own investigations and report their findings to the unit. Provide coaching and guidance on how to do this based on experience.

o Guide implementation of new technology and infrastructure solutions through standardized architecture review and project evaluation preparation and judgement.

o Evaluate projects against AHM IT BU standards for technology, security, quality, and budget. Assign homework and follow-up items for the team.

o Evaluate proposed system changes.

Who we are seeking:

Required Work Experience:

* 15 + years of Automotive IT or Manufacturing IT work experience

* 10 + years in a staff leadership position, 5 years in a second level leadership position

* Qualified candidates should have expert experience leading the design, implementation, and support for Complex, Distributed Cloud and IT Infrastructure services across multiple domains that support two or more of the following systems: Honda Web Sites, Connected Vehicle, CAD, (HPC) High Performance Computing, IoT, (PLM) Product Lifecycle Management, (ERP) Enterprise Resource Planning, SAP Financials, Consumer Finance (CASS).

* Experience working with both application units and infrastructure technology teams

* Strong knowledge and experience managing infrastructure areas and operations

Required Education:

* Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field; or equivalent working experience
