Solar Solutions Engineer

Redaptive is currently looking for a Solar Solutions Engineer to manage multiple aspects of the development process and utilize a network of partners and sub-contractors to implement projects. In this role you will need excellent communication and coordination skills, with a strong ability to strategize with others in a deadline-driven environment.
The Solar Solutions Engineer is responsible for creating, implementing, and maintaining a value engineering process for all Solar programs and projects. The role includes implementation of best practices in technologies and cost across all sizes of Solar projects, and for industrial and commercial facilities. This position will report to the Director of Technical Solutions Engineering.
Must be located in, or willing to relocate to the Denver Metro Area.

Job Responsibilities
  • Plans and coordinates engineering activities to develop and apply standardized proposal criteria and requirements for parts, equipment, and labor used in Solar projects and programs
  • Assist sales and product team in evaluating the technical viability of proposed solar sites
  • Manage detailed layout design process for Redaptive's development pipeline (preference for the ability to generate bid packages and site plans using CAD and other design tools)
  • Utilize energy production modeling software (Helioscope, PVBid, PVsyst, Aurora, etc.) to prepare energy production estimates
  • Leads review of customer proposals and opportunity analysis (using a combination of tools including excel, Energy Toolbase, Design software, and additional proposal tools)
  • Acts as a liaison between Procurement, Commercial Product, Sales and Delivery to ensure best practices are applied
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with solar EPC's, technology providers, OEMs and O&M providers
  • Interface with solar module, inverter, and racking providers to obtain technical information and stay apprised of technology advancements, pricing, and market trends
  • Evaluates and approves selection of installation vendors and technologies, manages Approved Vendor List
  • Evaluate project siting constraints, solar module, inverter, and racking technologies and solar resource data to maximize project value
  • Manage distribution interconnection process and interface with Utilities/regional transmission operators for development portfolio. (Significant interconnection experience across multiple geographies preferred)
  • Conduct or Coordinate site visits to support site evaluation, suitability, and due diligence efforts
  • Develop scopes for technical services and manage relationships with contractors and third-party engineering firms
  • Collaborate with third party experts to identify key trends in the industry
  • Provide technical support to project development team related to permitting efforts and customer relations
  • Provide technical support to project finance and credit committees during project financing process.
  • Identify cost overruns
  • Drive enterprise value through identification of opportunities to optimize spend, eliminate redundancy, improve performance, and mitigate risks
  • Organize and manage Solar Request for Proposal (RFP) to Redaptive vendors as needed
Job Requirements/Qualifications
  • 5 + years of experience identifying, developing and proposing solar projects, for commercial, industrial or higher education projects across the US and Canada
  • BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred, or equivalent experience, renewables or similar field a plus
  • Professional Engineer License a plus
  • Relevant industry certifications preferred (NABCEP, AEE)
  • Experience with similar storage and renewables technologies is a plus
  • Willingness to go above and beyond what is required, to make sure our solutions are outstanding in our exciting and meaningful
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate to all levels of the organization
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, including but not limited to: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Able to coordinate work product across multiple departments and/or functions
  • Interest in furthering the entrepreneurial culture of a "can-do, will-do" work environment; regardless of whether the position description specifically identifies the ask
  • Have an ergonomically correct and functional work-from-home workstation set up; amenable to a hybrid of working from home and in an office setting in the Denver Metro Area, Colorado

  • Expected annual salary: 112k (subject to adjustment for relevant experience, skills, geo location)
