Description The Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human behavior is seeking to hire a full-time Assistant Manager for the Psychiatry Department. You will oversee departmental and functional activities and monitor federal, state, and local regulatory issues for compliance. In addition, you will directly manage the CORE staff assigned to the front office as well as the financial counselors. Primary duties include:
* Monthly analysis of clinic utilization data
* Assist with budget process and monitoring
* Monitor time sheets
* Tracking of employee schedules and performance
* Review DAR to ensure productivity
* Account resolution to optimize reimbursement
* Liaison between patient, billing office, physician office, and other hospital departments
Salary: $61,400/yr - $121,400/yr
Qualifications Bachelors degree in business, finance, or related field (preferred)
Prior experience in a Healthcare Supervisory/managerial role
Minimum 2 years experience in a financial counselor type of role
Strong financial management skills
Experience and working knowledge of Medi-Cal, HMO's, PPO's, third party payors, etc., authorizations and eligibility requirements and regulations
Knowledge of NPBHS and Medical Enterprise supported services, Care Connect (EPIC) systems (highly preferred)
Ability to lead, supervise, and mentor a mid-size professional staff
Knowledge of basic psychiatric terminology to converse with physicians, clinicians, patients and public (preferred)
Ability to perform the functions of patient encounters, registration and appointment scheduling using a computerized system
Skill in performing basic arithmetic operations such as adding and subtracting to determine financial eligibility or required deposits
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
Attention to details and excellent follow-through skills
Skill in setting priorities and organizing workflow to maximize efficiency and meet deadlines
Knowledge of University policies and procedures (preferred)
Ability to interact effectively at all level of the organization and campus.
