Job Overview As a Material Handler you will support the production process by maintaining the flow of raw and finished materials by safely loading, unloading, and moving them within the production plant using a variety of powered industrial vehicles. Duties also include using our materials management system to document tasks related to shipping, receiving, storing materials, and processing returns. Key Responsibilities Performs all tasks in a safe manner, wearing required PPE and following all safety regulations Unload and direct movement of shipments from shipping and receiving to storage or work areas Verify and record incoming and outgoing shipments Transport raw, finished, scrap, packaging, and other materials using equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks Maintain accurate documentation of material transactions in the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system Maintain a team attitude and team approach Safely and efficiently operate powered industrial vehicles Thorough knowledge of job packages and material flow, or ability to learn quickly Ability to read and understand customer orders and the materials needed to complete the order - training provided Meet productivity standards and consistent high quality Exercises good judgment in handling expensive materials and equipment Support other warehouse needs with shipping/receiving, loading/unloading cargo, and cycle counting Clear communication with coworkers on next shift of priorities and open needs Must be flexible and capable of multitasking to manage multiple priorities Perform housekeeping duties required for a clean and safe work environment Maintain equipment to ensure safe operation Train others as required Requirements Hexatronic Rochester Cable is a federal contractor and this position is subject to the requirements of the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR), as such, applicants must be a U.S. person defined as a citizen, national, U.S. lawful permanent resident, person granted asylee status in the U.S., or person admitted into the U.S. as a refugee Minimum of high school diploma or GED equivalent Must be at least 18 years of age Minimum one-year related experience Ability to do basic math calculations Basic problem-solving skills Ability to work safely in a fast-paced environment Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedural documents Ability to work a fixed shift or a two-week rotating shift Ability to work overtime when needed to meet business demands Work well individually and with a team to achieve goals and objectives Meet productivity standards and maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail Be dependable and have good work ethics Must be willing to submit to a background investigation Must be willing and able to pass a post-offer drug screen Work Environment/Physical Demands: The physical demands described here represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The performance of this position normally requires exposure to a typical manufacturing environment that requires the use of personal protective equipment including steel toed shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection. Must be able to: sit, kneel, crouch, stoop, stand, walk, climb ramps and/or stairs at various times throughout the day; drive powered industrial vehicles; read, work with a computer and keyboard; hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds (e.g., machinery, sirens, and alarms); speak to express or exchange ideas, impart oral information to include instructions; vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral and depth perception. Must be able to move 25 to 50 pounds and up to 200 pounds with assistance and tolerate working in hot or cold environments.
