Staff Specialist - Re-engagement Liaison

The primary role of the Staff Specialist - Re-engagement Liaison is to ensure that City Schools and its partners identify and enroll youth experiencing homelessness, substance abuse, mental health/attendance challenges and provide such youth with full and equal opportunity to success in school. The Staff Specialist - Re-engagement Liaison is responsible for providing guidance, professional development, and technical assistance to administrators and teachers to ensure effective implementation of wrap-around supports.


Essential Functions



  • Develops and distributes linguistically and culturally appropriate outreach materials.
  • Provides wrap-around resources to youth in schools, community agencies, family shelters, and organizations where youth receive services.
  • Ensures clear procedures and sufficient resources for support of REC youth, both those who are in school and those who are returning to school.
  • Conducts regularly scheduled sessions with stakeholders to address students' needs/concerns.
  • Facilitates REC students' access to tutoring and other academic supports, including through the re-engagement outreach process.
  • Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with agencies and community groups to ensure effective identification of and coordinator of services to REC students and their families.
  • Performs and promotes all activities in compliance with equal employment and nondiscrimination policies; follows federal laws, state laws, school boards policies and the professional standards.



Desired Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in an educational field. Master's degree preferred. Degree must be from an accredited college or institution.
  • Experience with providing support activities for students and their families.
  • Ability to work independently and, when necessary and appropriate, collaboratively with district office and school staff.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to provide effective presentations and trainings to diverse audiences.
  • Experience in, and/or an understanding of the urban school environment.
  • Proficient in the use of computer applications including Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint and Excel.
