Position description

Tymofiyeva Lab - Junior/Assistant/Associate/Full Specialist

The Tymofiyeva lab is looking for a Junior, Assistant, Associate, or Full Specialist who is enthusiastic and motivated to join our lab focused on adolescent neuroimaging and adolescent mental health. In particular, the successful candidate will be assisting with recruitment, MRI scans, and psychometric assessments of study participants, as well as with data analyses. In addition, the applicant will be expected to attend regular lab meetings and to perform additional duties in the lab as needed.

Required Qualifications:



  • Specialists appointed at the Junior rank must possess a bachelor's degree (or equivalent degree) in biology, biomedical imaging, psychology or related sciences or at least four years of research experience.
  • Specialists appointed at the Assistant rank must possess a master's degree (or equivalent degree) or a bachelor's degree with three or more years of research experience.
  • Specialists appointed at the Associate rank must possess a master's degree (or equivalent degree) or five to ten years of research experience.
  • Specialists appointed at the Full rank must possess a terminal degree (or equivalent degree) or ten or more years of research experience.
  • Applicants must meet all the qualifications by the time of hire.
  • Candidate's CV and/or cover letter must state qualifications (or if pending) upon submission.
  • One or more years of research work in the field of mental health of adolescents ages 14-18 with and without clinical diagnoses of depression and anxiety.
  • One or more years of research work in the field of adolescent suicidality.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Training in administering Children's Depression Rating Scale-Revised (CDRS-R)
  • Ability to organize data and keep detailed records
  • Knowledge of the principles and procedures of at least one neuroimaging method (e.g., MRI, EEG, MEG) and excellent communication skills (both oral and written) in English
  • Experience of scoring psychological assessments
  • Neuroimaging data analysis skills
  • Excellent organization skill and attention to detail
  • Excellent time and task management skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to work independently and assess need for assistance from supervisor


Screening of applicants will begin immediately and will continue as needed throughout the recruitment period. Salary and rank will be commensurate with the applicants experience and training.

See Table 24B for the salary range for this position. A reasonable estimate for this position is $51,300-$181,800.
