Position description

The Rosenblum Lab in the Department of Dermatology at UC San Francisco is seeking a Research Specialist at the Junior, Assistant, or Associate level. We are a basic immunology laboratory that studies how the immune system functions in both mouse and human skin. Our research focuses on regulatory T cells (Tregs), an immune cell type critical for preventing autoimmunity. We seek to understand how Tregs influence homeostasis, inflammation, tissue repair, and cancer by interacting with other immune cells, parenchymal cells, and stem cells in the skin.

This position requires a 2-year commitment and will consist of hands-on laboratory research (100% time commitment). Research will primarily involve assisting post-doctoral fellows, graduate students, and staff working on basic immunology projects, with the opportunity to learn skills such as mouse dissection, flow cytometry, confocal microscopy, CyTOF, bulk and single-cell RNA sequencing, and spatial transcriptomics. There will be opportunities to eventually drive/direct an independent research project.

Appointees in the Specialist series will be expected to engage full-time in research and professional activities and will not have teaching responsibilities. Specialists are expected to use their professional expertise to make scientific and scholarly contributions, and may participate in University and Public Service.

Specialists appointed at the Junior rank must possess a bachelor's degree (or equivalent degree) or at least four years of equivalent research experience (e.g., with instrumentation and research equipment, social science research methods, or creative activities). Specialists appointed at the Assistant rank must possess a master's degree or a bachelor's degree with 3 or more years of research experience. Specialists appointed at the Associate rank must have a master's degree (or equivalent degree) or five to ten years of research experience.

Screening of applicants will begin immediately and will continue as needed throughout the recruitment period. Optimal start date for the position is immediately. Please apply online at ###.
