Primary Functions: To manage the College's electrical technologies educational and training programs, instruct key areas of electrical technologies training as required, and develop and evolve the electrical technologies educational and training programs. Responsibilities: Work with the Director of Automotive, Industry & Manufacturing, College staff, adjunct faculty, and community representatives to: (1) Develop course curricula and assessment tools for Specialized Diploma, Certificate & two-year degree programs; Recruit, retain and work with the appropriate advisory board to develop or modify public course offerings; modularize, organize, disseminate & manage all electrical technologies equipment, systems, training and assessment information; (2) Ensure delivery and quality of instruction for electrical technologies-related courses: supervise and mentor adjunct instructors in all matters related to credit and non-credit courses; seek out, interview and train qualified adjunct staff for electrical technologies instructors, evaluate adjunct performance in class, review student evaluations, and take appropriate action for improvement and ensure that training materials are prepared and available to and used by the adjunct instructors; (3) Personally Instruct electrical technologies courses on or off campus as needed equating to a load of approximately nine [9] to twelve [12] credit hours per semester; (4) Manage and, with the assistance of lab technicians, construct, purchase and maintain all materials and lab equipment: upon approval, design and oversee the construction of lab apparatus and facility changes; maintain existing equipment and apparatus; transfer, set up and tear down equipment for off-site locations; (5) Assist both credit and non-credit sections of the College in marketing their programs: visit potential industrial customers to disseminate information about both non-credit and credit programs; assist in developing content for marketing pieces such as flyers and web pages; participate in promotional events such as trade shows and career fairs and open houses; (6) Advise students in curriculum progression: participate in the annual student orientations; advise potential students on career and programs; advise matriculating students in course selection; (7) Work with technical representatives from industry to identify needs and research job skills needed for customized training programs as well as public academic courses; (8) Carry out other duties as assigned. Organizational Relationships: (1) Supervised by and reports to the Director of Automotive, Industry & Manufacturing; (2) Supervises support staff; (3) Coordinates work with the administrative, instructional, and support team in the development and delivery of courses, programs, and services; (4) Relates role to the College mission and goals. Performance Standards: Performance in this position is considered satisfactory when: (1) Mutually agreed upon objectives have been attained within a specific time frame; (2) Responsibilities of the position have been carried out at a level consistent with performance objectives; (3) Effective cooperative relationships exist with the other members of the administrative team. Qualifications: (1) Education: (a) associate's degree in a related technology field from a Councilfor HigherEducation Accreditation (CHEA) approved Institutional Accreditor institution required; bachelor's degree in technology or engineering preferred. (b) attainment of appropriate industry-recognized certifications. (2) Skills, Knowledge, Abilities: (a) ability to provide extensive hands-on instruction; (b) working knowledge of electrical theory and troubleshooting, tools, and equipment of the trade, and electrical codes and standards; (c) working knowledge of program and curriculum development, as well as an understanding of job skills requirements and assessments; (d) ability to work with diverse populations, including students, faculty, administrators and community representatives. (e) excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills. (3) Experience: (a) at least 10 years of hands-on experience in electrical and industrial activities and a minimum of 5 years' experience in a training capacity (preferably with electrical technology students); (b) extensive experience with a variety of industrial motors and controls and PLC systems. |
