Marketing Manager (Financial Experience Required)

Section 1: Position Summary

The Marketing Manager strategically leads and provides tactical support to champion greater adoption and utilization of key services and features with assigned line(s) of business. This includes the support of ongoing omni-channel communications needs, product development go-to-market planning, client retention initiatives, point of sales positioning, differentiating thought leadership and account engagement responsibilities based on the position requirements.

The position manages all aspects of marketing including planning, project management, creation, distribution, and measurement, analysis, and potentially budgeting and vendor management. External client and internal stakeholder relationship management is also a large part of this role.

The ideal candidate has financial services experience and is a quick learner who can think strategically and operate effectively in a fast paced, deadline driven environment. Exceptional customer service and the ability to work both individually and as part of a cross functional team are crucial. The Marketing Manager must be able to build and foster strong and strategic relationships with internal colleagues and externally with clients and/or institutional partners.

Section 2: Job Functions, Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Be aware and have working knowledge of marketing efforts of other clients, and monitor competitor marketing efforts. Draw upon these examples to demonstrate knowledge and offer additional opportunities and suggestions to your clients in a consultative manner.
  • Maintain excellent working relationships with internal partner teams. Keep teams informed of all marketing efforts
  • Understand and advocate both our corporate and line of business brands
  • Collaborate to research and create content for RFP responses and presentations as necessary. Participate in production and presentations as necessary.
  • Lead formal client presentations to clients and internal leadership teams on key marketing initiatives.
  • Create and manage the development of key marketing components, activities, and initiatives across the assigned LOB
  • Deliver marketing tactics with measurable outcomes and drive continuous improvement
  • Guide creative teams' development and execution of key LOB marketing deliverables across print, digital, social and web channels as appropriate
  • Operate as a key contributor who provides critical thinking when defining solutions and creating actionable marketing strategies to drive business growth
  • Ensure specific LOB marketing themes and messages align with enterprise messaging
  • Implement required processes for effective delivery of all advisors and / or plan sponsor programs and marketing materials
  • Act as a key contributor on cross-team projects to ensure our positioning is compelling and differentiating to connect with our target audience
  • Monitor competitive positioning, stay current on industry trends and regulatory issues that impact our business
  • Protect, secure, and properly handle all confidential data held by Ascensus to ensure against unauthorized access, improper transmission, and/or unapproved disclosure of information that could result in harm to Ascensus or our clients.

Section 3: Experience, Skills, Knowledge Requirements


  • A minimum of 7 years' experience in marketing, with demonstrated success in marketing and communications management
  • Experience working in the financial field
  • Strong in managing strategic integrated omni-channel marketing programs is essential.
  • Ability to support materials like client presentations, RFPs, creative briefs, and project plans.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, client-service driven environment.
  • Highly motivated, problem solver, resourceful, with the ability to interact effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Self-starter who is proactive and can work independently
  • Strong communication skills required to work effectively with internal and external clients and with all levels of management.
  • Strong analytical skills with proven ability to demonstrate interpretation capabilities and apply learnings across products and channels.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; and strong presentation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a team leader spirit.
  • Client management experience highly desired.
  • Retirement industry or financial services experience preferred
  • Deep understanding of (or strong interest in) the retirement industry, the advisor sales channel, and the role of TPAs in the market preferred
  • Strong project management abilities with experience in leading and executing initiatives from strategy through execution
  • Strong results-oriented and metrics-driven approach to problem solving
  • Demonstrated experience in building client presentations, RFPs, creative briefs, project plans, and cost estimates
  • Understanding of digital marketing strategies and tools, including social media marketing
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships and influence key stakeholders and internal constituents
  • Working knowledge of marketing automation platforms such as Sales Force Marketing Cloud preferred
