About the Job

The University of Minnesota, Department of Theatre Arts and Dance, has an occasional need for part-time, temporary theatre arts or dance instructors to teach day or evening classes. This does not constitute a posting for vacancies, but establishes a pool of applicants should openings occur during the 2023-2043 academic year. Applications will not be acknowledged upon receipt. Applicants will only be contacted should an active opening occur during the academic year. Positions may be appointed during the 2023-2024 academic year: fall semester 2023 (08/28/2023 - 01/10/2024), spring semester 2024 (01/11/2024 - 05/26/2024) or summer 2024.

Qualifications

Dance Program Teaching Specialist or Lecturer:

Required Qualifications:
BA/BFA or five years of professional experience; with experience teaching dance students, or certification in the relevant field of study. Candidates with BA/BFA will be appointed as teaching specialists.

Preferred Qualifications:
MA/MFA or seven years professional training and/or extensive professional experience in the area of specialization. Candidates with MA/MFA will be appointed as lecturers.

Theatre Arts Programs Teaching Specialist or Lecturer:

BA/BFA or five years of professional experience; experience teaching advanced theatre students or certification in relevant field. Candidates with BA/BFA will be hired as teaching specialists.

Our primary mission is to educate our students and our audiences about the performing arts and about the social issues and human emotions the arts speak to so powerfully. Home to the arts, social science and humanities disciplines and programs, the College of Liberal Arts comprises 31 academic departments, and over 20 interdisciplinary research centers and administrative/support units.
