Essential Job Functions:

The Sales Engineer will be responsible for supporting Sales Account teams that are focused on selling Carrier Ethernet (MAN/WAN), and fiber-based solutions to Astound Business Solutions customers throughout the United States. The Sales Engineer will prepare technical proposals and presentations in conjunction with Sales Executives, which may include preparation of network topologies, network drawings, technical specifications, and assisting with the development of pricing requests.

Responsibilities for a Sales Engineer



  • Attend customer meetings in person and via the phone/internet.
  • Deliver complete solutions utilizing the company's application systems, components, and infrastructure.
  • Builds relationships with customers serving as the technical liaison from pre-sales to post-sales
  • Attend industry conferences and events to interface with the customer and advocate
  • Astound Business Solutions' services
  • Analyzes customers' business needs and develops strategies based on knowledge of customer's current communications network, equipment and business.
  • Required to follow industry technology trends through self-study and formal training
  • Participate in strategic and tactical account planning
  • Coordinate cross-market and corporate engineering teams to support regional/national inter-market opportunities
  • Provides technical training and development to support the Account teams
  • Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights, weekends, and variable schedule(s) as necessary to deliver complex projects.
  • Provide detailed specifications for proposed solutions
  • Work closely with project management teams to successfully monitor progress of initiatives
  • Ability to travel within assigned territory
  • Within close proximity of Major airport or hub
  • Other duties/responsibilities as assigned



Qualifications for a Sales Engineer

  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects
  • Ability to drive consensus and push new ideas within the organization.

  • Ability to foster and maintain good working relationships with peers, boundary partners, and customers.
  • Previous experience supporting Carrier, MNO, and Wholesale accounts or working for a Carrier MNO would be desired
  • Cable MSO experience desired
  • Must have a proven track record of building, executing technical solutions and sales strategies to penetrate, close, and manage Carrier accounts
  • Experience in strategic account positioning at the Executive level
  • Requires a professional demeanor and appearance with strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to multi-task and work in a team environment.
  • MEF-CECP 2.0
  • Working knowledge of:

    • Layer 1 (Optical, HFC, WDM)
    • Layer 2 & 3 (Switching, STP, VLAN, MPLS, Carrier Ethernet, etc..)
    • Wireless experience desired


  • Industry certifications such as Cisco CCNA, CCNP, Juniper JNCIA/ENT preferable
  • Experience and understanding of computer hardware, software, and operating systems.
  • Bachelor degree or comparable experience in Telecommunications, Networking, Cloud or Computer Science.

The base salary range in Washington for this position is $85,388.99 - $98,967.65, opportunities for bonus, benefits and commission, if applicable. The base pay range represents the low and high end of the hiring range for this job. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to relevant skills, experience, and capabilities. It is specific to Washington and may not be applicable to other locations.



  • Targeted Bonus: $2,000-$14,000 quarterly - Our sales total compensation offers the potential for significant upside above targeted earnings for those who overachieve their sales targets.
