Job Description:

POSITION TITLE: Student Employee, Community Culinary Assistant

STATUS: Part time

DEPARTMENT: Corporate & Community Services

DIVISION: Academic Affairs

CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt

UNION: Non-union

REPORTS TO: Chef Instructor holding class on that particular day.

MINIMUM PAY RATE: $14.00 per hour.

(Position is FWS eligible)

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Meet with instructor to discuss any special needs for that day's community culinary class.

2. Assist instructor with class preparation, student questions and class cleanup.

3. Monitor students to ensure they are following proper recipes, cooking procedures, baking practices, and service skills where appropriate.

4. Continually monitor sanitation practices of students.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. Current student at JJC with 6 or more credit hours.
2. GPA of 2.0 or higher.

3. High School Graduate or GED equivalent.
4. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community.
5. Displays cultural competence and emotional intelligence.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

1. Normal culinary lab physical demands.

2. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

3. Standard culinary lab equipment.

4. Must be able to stand for extended period of times.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

1. Culinary lab environment

Scheduled Weekly Hours: This is a student employee position that works around your class schedule. May work up to 20 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters. During summer and holiday breaks (Winter/Spring), may work up to 28 hours per week with supervisor approval.
