Positions Location: Lansing, MI Job Description
General Purpose of Job: To provide knowledgeable, first assistance to physicians performing surgical procedures using da Vinci Robot and other major surgical procedures as deemed necessary Essential Duties: This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Caregivers may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position. A. Collaboration with the surgeon and other health care professional for optimal surgical outcome. These duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting the anesthesiologist when applicable
- Assisting with patient positioning, skin preparation, and draping
- Handling and cutting tissue appropriately to reduce potential injury
- Using and manipulating surgical instruments and medical devices skillfully
- Providing hemostasis
- Suturing tissue
- Assisting in the safe delivery of the patient to recovery room
- Communicating to appropriate health care personnel
B. Insure necessary equipment and supplies are available for the specific surgical procedure. C. Maintain up-to-date surgical skills through CME and personal ongoing training D. Performs clinical duties as requested Job Requirements

Work Experience |
* One-year experience as a surgical tech or in a clinical surgical capacity. * Surgical first assisting experience> Preferred. |
Education |
* Graduate of an Accredited Surgical First Assistant program * Surgical First Assist certification * Preferred - Bachelor's degree |
Specialized Knowledge and Skills |
* Demonstrates communication skills, including ability to interact with diverse group of people * Ability to handle multiple job responsibility at once * Able to demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care based on physical, psycho-social, educational, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients served in the assigned area. The skills and knowledge needed to provide such care may be gained through education, training or experience. |
