The City of Takoma Park is seeking a Library Substitute to coverthe circulation desk as needed under the supervision of a permanent staff member. Work hours varyand may be offered any time the Library is open to the public.

Typical Duties Include:




  • Checking Library materials in and out;
  • Making patron cards;
  • Addressing patron inquiries in person or by phone;
  • Checking on availablility of materials and retrieving them from shelves;
  • Performing other general circulation desk duties.



Minimum Qualifications Include:




  • Associates degree from an accredited college or university or the equivalent; or current course work in a college or university;or
  • Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential duties of the job;
  • General familiarity with public libraries and their organization;
  • Strong Interpersonal skills; Computer skills and aptitude; Interest in working with a diverse public, often in a fast-paced environment.



The hourly wage for this position is expected to be between $17.68-20.82 and will be offered at a level consistent with the experience and qualifications of the candidate.
