Responsibilities

GW is looking for an experienced occupational therapist to fill a float position between our 18 bed NICU and our Med-Surg adult population. In the NICU, the OT will provide high quality evaluations for infants, ensure family-centered developmental care, and create and implement individualized treatment plans alongside a close team of therapists in our open-bay NICU. The OT will educate on and encourage developmentally appropriate care and occupations, sensorimotor processes, and neurobehavioral organization. The OT will also float to cover patients in our adult Med-Surg population as needed based on the census of the NICU. Our Med-Surg therapists work in all areas of the hospital, from the emergency department, medical and surgical units, to the cardiothoracic, neuroscience, and trauma intensive care units. Our occupational therapists serve as the experts in self-care, everyday life activities, functional mobility, and rehabilitation, and are key stakeholders in patients' recovery and interdisciplinary discharge planning. The rehab department offers a wonderful team environment, and the chosen candidate will play an important role within an interdisciplinary team.

Qualifications

Med-Surg OT Job Requirements:

    • Master's/ Doctorate degree in Occupational therapy
    • Experience in a hospital setting required
    • Must have DC License before start of employment
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professionals by AHA or Red Cross

Skills:

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to adapt to multiple and changing priorities
