Ivy Tech of Evansville seeks qualified individuals to provide instruction in Elementary Education.

An adjunct faculty member in Elementary Education will be responsible for providing instruction on topics such as Speaking and Listening, Written Communication, Reasoning, Scientific Ways of Knowing, Social and Behavioral Ways of Knowing, and Humanistic and Artistic Ways of Knowing. The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi.

Major Responsibilities:

PROGRAM OPERATION:

  • Performs all instructional duties necessary to teach and facilitate student learning in assigned classes.
  • Provides syllabus appropriate to course(s) being taught to students and follows syllabus content and requirements.
  • Maintains student attendance and grading records according to College policy as outlined in the Adjunct Handbook.
  • Submits requested information within established time lines.

STUDENTS:

  • Is available to students outside scheduled class time to answer questions/provide assistance.
  • Deals with student concerns and, if necessary, consults with the Program Chair to resolve issues.

INSTRUCTION:

  • Meets all scheduled classes of contracted course(s).
  • Uses technology such as Blackboard, PowerPoint, etc., as appropriate.
  • In the event of an emergency absence, notifies Program Chair

The above list of duties is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. Other duties logically associated with the position may be assigned.

Work Hours:

  • Specific hours will depend on classes assigned but may include evenings.

Hiring Range:

  • $44.00 per contact hour (approximately $2,112 per 8-week course)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A qualified faculty member in mathematics meets the discipline standard through one of two routes:
  • Possesses an earned master's or higher degree in mathematics, from a regionally accredited institution, or
  • Possesses an earned master's or higher degree, in any field with 18 graduate credit hours in mathematics-related courses, from a regionally accredited institution.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as faculty in higher education
