Job Title: Cable/Infrastructure Technician
Reports to: Project Manager
FLSA: Full-time Salaried Exempt
Primary Work Location: TDY - Short Term - OCONUS & CONUS

Position Overview
The Cable/Infrastructure Technician is responsible for ensuring efficient and effective completion of all cabling projects. These projects include the installation of cabling systems of secure and non-secure voice, video, and data. This position is a short-term hire anywhere from 30 to 120 days and is on a 100% TDY basis.

Responsibilities / Duties


  • Install, remove, and relocate cabling components, cabinets, racks, and pathway systems.
  • Manage the deployment of low voltage category cabling, fiber optic cabling, and related communication infrastructure materials.
  • Install and service of low voltage category cable, including category 5, enhanced category 5, and category 6 as well as Fiber Optic Structured cable distribution systems.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices during installations.
  • Plan, execute, and oversee projects.
  • Order required materials.
  • Conduct site and infrastructure surveys.
  • Design network layout and recommend improvements.
  • Maintain IT wiring diagrams.
  • Solve issues related to cables and networks.
  • Test and terminate cables.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Requirements


  • 4+ years of experience in Site Support Technician Role
  • Understanding of industry standards, including BICSI and local and national electric codes.
  • Ability to Read blueprints, architectural, mechanical, and electrical documents.
  • Experience in Fiber Splicing 6 to 288 strand.
  • Experience with single mode and multi-mode connectors.
  • Advanced knowledge of publications pertaining to standard cabling for telecom, data, security & wireless systems.
  • Must be able to multi-task and work under tight deadlines.
  • DoD US Army environment experience
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office Applications.
  • US Citizen
  • Must have unexpired US Passport valid for a minimum of 2 more years.
  • Must have a current DoD Secret Clearance


Preferred Qualifications


  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • BICSI Certification


Physical Demand


  • Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.
  • Must have the ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds occasionally and walk short distances.
  • Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • May need to climb ladder and crawl into tight spaces.
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing: viewing a computer monitor; extensive reading.
  • Able to travel on long flights.
