The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) IT Application Development Director will provide leadership and management to the Information Technology Applications team. Develop and implement a sustainable strategic Information Technology (IT) plan for the Applications Development team that will support the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) mission and core values.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Guide day to day execution of information technology (IT) Applications Department initiatives focusing on accuracy and timeliness.

  • Manage team that identifies, communicates, and resolves software issues.

  • Ensure high-quality customer service while promoting end-user satisfaction through the development and enhancement of software applications.

  • Develop and supervise team including work allocation, training, evaluation, and conflict resolution, and motivate teammates to achieve peak productivity and performance.

  • Provide for IT Application staff a holistic view of the role of IT within WWP.

  • Formulate annual initiatives and participate in generating the annual Application Team budget and track expenditures against progress towards goal.

  • Implement effective business analytics practices that drive improved decision-making, efficiency, and performance.

  • Manage vendor relationships monitoring quality of work, resolution of issues, and expenditures.

  • Collaborate in the formulation and documentation of technology plans and policies including identification of technical solutions to enhance operational business practices and needs of constituents.

  • Collaborate regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity, security, and optimized performance at the software level.

  • Ensure the protection of confidential information.

  • Review, evaluate, and develop proposals for new initiatives as appropriate.

  • Develop reports used to manage, audit, and benchmark the IT Application Team initiatives.

  • Other related duties as assigned.

  • Broad-based IT experience across several functional areas to include IT software development.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively and efficiently manage multiple projects in varying complexity.

  • Ability to manage long-term projects while comprehending and tracking at the detailed level.

  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple projects and deadlines.

  • Willingness to commit the additional time and effort necessary to meet project milestones and implementation deadlines.

  • Knowledge and experience in the use of Project Management methodologies and tools.

  • Management experience with projects in a program environment (i.e., multiple interrelated and coordinated projects).

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Visio, and Word.

  • Demonstrated experience facilitating business and technical analysis meetings, management briefings, large focus-group sessions, webinars, interviews, or other meetings.

  • Demonstrated experience preparing status reports, and large-scale implementation projects.

  • Experience producing documentation related to meetings, analyses, or training materials.

  • Mission-driven, guided by core values, and a pleasure to work with.

EXPERIENCE

Requirements

  • Eight years of staff management experience.

  • Seven years of experience with large and high-profile projects in multiple technologies and functions environment.

  • Five years of experience with large and high-profile software development projects.

Preferences

  • Experience in a non-profit setting with an understanding of fundraising fundamentals.

  • Proficiency with Salesforce or another CRM tool.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft SharePoint.

EDUCATION

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or related field.

Preferences

  • Master's degree.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • General office environment: temperature controlled.
