Performs rough-in and finish carpentry such as hanging or repairing drywall, including walls, ceilings, and building wheelchair ramps, and repairing or replacing floors. Repairs rotted subfloors and joists. Performs finish carpentry, such as installing door trim, baseboards, and quarter rounds. Replaces or repairs stairways, windows, and doors, including screens. Installs stairs, handrails, grab bars, and window and door locks. Installs pre-hung/slab doors, storm doors, and storm windows. Winterizes door trims, windows, and air conditioners. Performs household minor repairs and painting duties, including walls, trim, and ceilings. Performs and assists with minor plumbing, including installing and repairing faucets, toilets, sink baskets, P-traps, and center/end outlets, and water line shutoffs. Installs smoke detectors and motion lights. Inspects the work to be done at project sites and prepares estimates of the material and labor costs involved. Compiles records and prepares reports of completed work and materials used. Installs and repairs wooden and chain link fences. Assembles new playground equipment and inspects, repairs, or replaces broken equipment such as fences, cages, backstops, bleachers, swings, and slides. Performs minor repairs to equipment and tools. Maintains regular job attendance in accordance with a schedule established for the position by the supervisor. Performs other related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates within the scope of this classification. Conditions of Employment: Candidates must provide proof of U.S. citizenship or proof of permanent residence or authorization to work. The City of Omaha reserves the right to conduct criminal history, driving record, reference and credit checks and a background investigation on applicants for employment. Successfully passing a criminal background review, reference check, and if applicable, a credit check, is required as a condition of employment. If applicable, the City will require that you successfully pass a review of the driver's license, driving abstract, a pre-employment drug test, a hearing test and a back screening examination as a condition of employment.
