Responsibilities

  • The Marlet Director of Information Services will provide technology vision and leadership in the development and implementation of the affiliate-wide Information Services (I.S.) program at multiple facilities across the region. The Director will lead the health-care network in planning and implementing enterprise information systems to support both distributed and centralized clinical and business operations and achieve more effective and cost beneficial regional-wide I.S. operations.
  • This is an exciting new position with responsibility over George Washington University Hospital, Mid-Atlantic Urgent Care, Cedar Hill Regional Hospital in DC and anticipated growth and expansion under GW Hospital. in the DC/Metro area.

Qualifications

Education/Qualification

    • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or Health Administration required.
    • Post graduate or commensurate experience preferred.
    • Minimum 13 years of leadership experience in the management and support of Healthcare Information Technology and Systems, as well as direct management of major IS operations required; acute experience preferred
    • Experience should also include exposure to both shared and outsourced solutions, as well as support of in-house information and communication systems in a multi-site client-server environment.
    • Specific experience with practice management, financial management and clinical management information systems is a plus.
    • Multi-site experience required.

    • Demonstrates strong leadership, organization, communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Demonstrates ability to relate to clinical personnel and medical staff, as well as ability to interact well with the public.
    • Must have knowledge of PC and applications.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of:
      • Business principles and techniques of administration, organization, and management to include an in-depth understanding of the key business issues that exist in the healthcare industry. These include, but are not limited to, knowledge of strategic and operational planning, healthcare economics, personnel administration, federal, state and local laws, marketing, financial and cost analysis, trends in the healthcare industry, and primary healthcare administrative theory and practice.
      • Data processing methods and procedures, and computer software systems.
      • Application of Meaningful Use Standards in acute care environment
      • Systems design and development process, including requirements analysis, feasibility studies, software design, programming, pilot testing, installation, security, evaluation and operational management
      • Applying HITECH, NIST, FIPS compliance measures in a clinical environment.
      • Business process analysis and redesign
      • Design, management, and operation of managed IS systems
    • Travel: 10%.
