About This Role:

Kansas State University's Aerospace and Technology Campus in Salina seeks an experienced Assistant Chief Flight Instructor to join our growing team of aviation flight professionals! This position is responsible for FAR 141 training activities and following department policies and procedures.

Worksite Options:

This position is required to be performed on-site. Work is performed on employer premises or designated assignment location. Assistant Chief Flight Instructors typically work a morning or evening shift.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree
  • Must pass an FAA Part 141 Assistant Chief Flight Instructor Evaluation
  • Detailed documentation of training records
  • Strong support for safety practices, procedures, and culture
  • The following credentials:

    • FAA Commercial Pilot, SE and ME
    • Current FAA CFI and CFII certificates


  • Must meet 14 CFR 141.36(c) requirements


Preferred Qualifications:



  • CFI and CFII experience of 500+ hours dual and 10+ students recommended for FAA check rides and 80% first attempt pass rate
  • Additional ratings and/or endorsements
  • FAA Certified Flight Instructor

    • High Performance endorsement
    • Complex endorsement
    • Tail Wheel endorsement


  • Multi-Engine Instructor certificate
  • Experience with a flight school scheduling system
  • Management and supervisory experience
  • FAA Gold Seal Flight Instructor
  • FAA Instrument Ground Instructor Certificate
  • FAR 141 Stage Check Instructor
  • FAR 141 Assistant Chief Flight Instructor experience
  • FAR 141 Chief Flight Instructor experience
  • FAR 135 or FAR 121 experiences


Other Requirements:



  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment.
  • Maintain a current FAA Medical Certificate with second class privileges
  • Maintain 45 billable hours per month average, perform monthly observation flights with a student and CFI with written reviews
